Do you have a secret "fund" or stash of $ (for WDW or otherwise)?

Inspired by the "nest egg" thread....

Do you have a fund where you are secretly saving money for a Disney trip or other fun thing? Where I work, we each send out our own bills, and how much money the company receives every month depends on how early we get our bills out. We've started an incentive program where we get a small cash payment for early billing. I should have about $650 in cash hidden away by the time our May '05 trip rolls around...that will take care of everyone's "spending money" and then some!

It's not *really* secret, because all the money is in the same account, but one of my savings categories is The Super Secret Baby Fund. :o I started putting $10 a month into it when we got married, then when we have a baby I can spend it on whatever I want. I mean, on whatever the baby needs.

I recently started an ING account. A DIS member referred me and I earned $25 for opening an account. The $25 will have to be claimed as interest earned at the end of the tax year but still its a free $25 for opening a savings account. I really like this account since I have it set up to automatically deposit a set amount into the account every 2 weeks. The money takes up to 3 business days to transfer to my checking account so I don't have to worry about it being used for splurges. ;) I then referred my son and earned an additional $10 while he earned $25 for opening his own account.

We have an account that DW occassionally deposits to that we don't ever think about. It's pretty much our really, really rainy day fund -- we'd only withdraw from it in an emergency. :)

We have two. One for trips and other fun stuff. And the other is an emergency fund. (Of course, there's savings, retirement, tuition... LOL)

there are only two ways I can save money for the Disney Secret Stash. one is to draft it out of my accounts like ING (far way so I can't get to it without it taking days).

the other is to withdraw money in $100 bills. i can hide these in my sock drawer and I know I wont touch them b/c I hate to break a $100. in the last month I've done this, I have $365 saved up. that's one PHP and a character breakfast!

hmm, hope no one knows where i live!

LOL! DW apparently has several. She told me a few months ago that if anything ever happened to her to look all over the house for envelopes. Reminds me of my Grandfather.

My dad did! When he died (many years ago) we were going through the trunk of his car before the new owner came to claim it, and there was a little stash of several hundred dollars cash. I've always wondered what he had in mind....

Micca -

Funny you should mention that. The EXACT same thing happened with my dad after he passed away :( .

When my mom was going through his clothes she found over $1400 in a jacket pocket. SHE used to give HIM spending money in their retirement, and apparently he never spent it.

I use ING also. Its an easy way to keep it "out of sight" plus it was nice little boost just opening accounts for our family.

I have several ING accounts - a house fund (saving for down payment), a vacation fund (for WDW of course!) and an emergency fund. None of these are secret from dh, but he has no idea how much is in them... I'd tell if he asked, he just never asks :)
