I don't know if you'd like it or not. We really use ours only for turkey. It was my Grandma's and is at least 50 years old, and working fine. But it sure it nice to be able to make the turkey in the laundry room instead of it taking up room in the kitchen, or monopolizing the oven when I can be baking other things instead.

We have one...used it today for our turkey. It is great. We have the server piece also, which allows us to use the roaster for group gatherings and to keep 3 different things warm at one time. My sister and SIL also have one. it definitely is a space saver.

I have one and use it to make large items such as turkey and ham. It works great. We bought it off of QVC or HSN, can't remember which one.

No, I cook turkeys the old-fashioned way.

However, I did buy a little Sunbeam Carousel Rotisserie machine because I love rotisserie chicken...but, I want organic chicken with no salt or preservatives injected into the chicken. It works so well, and is SOOO easy.

I also splurged for the shish-kabob attachment...it makes really yummy shish-kabobs!!

I am all for making cooking easier. I think a roaster/rotisserie type machine is a WONDERFUL invention for busy moms!!

You mean something like this??

I dont consider it a "fancy" appliance, we got one similar to the one in the photo for around $40 and have seen 18qt(non chrome finish) ones in ADS(kmart today) for under $30.

Throw some Chicken thighs in it, sprinkle some season salt on them and it is ready by the time you get back from picking kids up from school.

We have holiday dinners with two other families. One of them bought a roaster oven a few years ago and now whichever one of us who is hosting uses it. If I see one cheap enough I'm going to get one (now that we built a storage area under our house where I can easily store it!) but it works well borrowing since whenever I entertain my friend is invited.

I got a Ronco rotissiere for my bridal shower. Love it!

Wal-Mart has these on sale tomorrow as one of their "secret items" for just $19. I'm thinking of picking one up. Just thought I'd let everyone know.

i have the large one (also have the divided chafing dish that fits into it) but i also have a small one that sits on top of the heating element.

i use the small one ALLOT! i use it like a crockpot to do soups and chili and such (cleans so much easier than a crockpot, and you can get the heat up much higher to do faster cooking) but i also use it as a roasting dish in the oven-so i can start a roast early in the day and then pop it into the oven to brown the top. the realy nice thing about it is you can put it into the fridge for leftovers. mine is non-stick and i think i paid less than $20 for it.

i only use my large one occasionaly, but again it does come in handy. if nothing else it's great for using as a chafing dish for buffet meals-and if you ever have big crowds around and do chili or spagetti it's wonderful (we make up the spagetti in pots and pans on the stove, put it into the roasting pan with the sauce and cheese-it blends together wonderfully and stays warm for hours). this is also a great item to use as a 'warming oven'.

We have one. I love it for Thanksgiving because that way the oven is free for rolls or desserts.

Do you find a turkey cooked in a roaster is more moist than one cooked in an oven, or about the same?

Not sure. I always use the turkey roasting bags. Meat is always moist and clean up is a breeze!!!! I just like using the roaster because it frees up the oven for baking other things.

I have a roaster thingy and I use it on the holidays. I put my ham in it and it is wonderful and worth the money to have this appliance on hand. It's great to have the turkeys in the oven and the ham in the roaster. I works like an electric oven and I am glad I have it!
