Ok first things first- I know some people hate wal-mart no matter what.

That said, I HATE their new store design. I am probably on my own because I'm sure they spent $$$ on focus groups or something, but I hoped I'd find one other change adverse Disser out there!

No, I don't.

There's a brand new Walmart 10-15 minutes from me. It is filled with the same type of shoppers that the other 15 year-old Walmart has....the kind of shoppers that are on that "people of Walmart site . DH & I went in there once a few months ago, & said, "Never again".

I can't stand Walmart.

What is your new layout? We have a couple different ones near us. One of them I HATE too. I can never find anything. The layout is that if you go in the far left door the greeting cards, seasonal things, office supplies and crafts are on the left down the aisle, clothing in the middle and on the far right of the store you have paper products and pet supplies leading up to the food.

I have an "old" Walmart less than a mile from my house... and a "new" Walmart about 15 minutes away. I LOVE the "new" Walmart!!! So super nice, and not at all "Peopleofwalmart-y" :thumbsup2

we have two in my city, and both are set up the same way.

two main entrances. looking at the store from the front, the left entrance leads to housewares, with the pharmacy and health and beauty on the left of it. in the middle is clothing, with electronics and toys in the back, on the far right, with the right entrance is grocery, with milk in the back, dry goods, then frozen, then produce and bakery in the front.

the garden center is to the left of the left entrance, with the auto dept behind the garden center.

i honestly don't mind it. it seems pretty easy to navigate, and both of our stores are very well kept.

Yes, I have a new one and I kinda sorta like it, but it's hard to find things until you get used to it. I was in there one day a few weeks ago and walked past a woman who was REAMING one of the store managers about how much she hated the new store layout. I mean, she was really letting the poor man have it. I felt sorry for him.

ETA: I should add that while I'm not yet wild about the new layout, I love the fact that I now have a Super Walmart less than 5 minutes away from me. Before, the closest one was about 20 mins. away so I almost never went there, despite how much better the prices are there than at other local grocery stores.

I don't like it when any type of store does this.. :headache:

And DD's MIL? When they do it to the supermarket she uses she really goes ballistic!! She has every item and it's location memorized - seriously.. When she had her knee surgery last year she sent her DH to the supermarket with a list - "French's mustard, aisle 4, two-thirds of the way down, on the left, across from the jars of tomato sauce", etc., etc.. He found everything EXACTLY where she said it was and had the cart filled in record breaking time..:rotfl:

I wish I could do that.. I can't even find the mustard here in the house..LOL..

I agree that they are trying to be like target. They've moved health and beauty over by the groceries, greeting cards are in the front near their 'celebrations center/scrapbooking area, which is nowhere near office supplies where a reasonable person would put it.
But I know what's really bothering me is that Walmart's layout has been pretty consistent from store to store as long as I can remember and I find it terribly inconvenient.

Mine are like this and I like them also (well, they are flipped--one of ours is one way and one is the other).

I'm like that. I can tell anyone where anything is in Walmart. lol I actually like when they update and change. It takes me awhile to get the hang of it but I like that they update and I think it is part of Walmart's success around these parts.
We have all kinds of shoppers are our walmarts.

I do not like the new layout at all. I was used to the way it was. We have very few "people of walmart" types at mine - I try and go there as little as possible. Both my Walmart and Super Target are less than 5 min. from my house and I prefer the Super Target

I love our Walmart supercenter. It was built about 5 yrs ago and is the cleanist, nicest one I have ever been in. The shelves are always well stocked and the store itself is the most tidiest I have seen. You can tell the management cares a great deal. I have been in plenty a dumpy Walmarts.:rotfl: And the people there look normal, not like on peopleofwalmart. I am alittle thrown by the new setup cause I knew where everything was before.

Honestly, I love walmart because they have EVERYTHING, and I'm not a fan of going to a million stores to find things, and they're usually cheaper. I've lived in a few different cities/places and from what I've seen, there are about 4 or so different layouts I've seen, some I prefer over others, but the thing I like the most are the ones with self checkout, and more specifically the ones with a conveyer belt with self check-out...-yes I think I may be bit anti-social:lmao:
