Do you have a Nativity displayed in your home?

Yep, we have one. It's the kids' jobs to set it up every year. But this year my DD pointed out that the 3 wise men don't come til after Christmas, and baby Jesus shouldn't be there til Christmas. Good point, but she cracks me up with her insistence on details... :goodvibes
And besides, if we don't put everything there now, with all the holiday craziness we won't remember them til we're taking everything down!

Yes- we have a couple- on "breakable" set on the mantle, a small all in one (cheap in case little hands get it) under the tree and a Little People one for the kids to play with.

I have a beautiful porcelin nativity that my grandparents made. I treasure it.

One Christmas years ago I enthusiastically and innocently asked MIL and FIL "Where do you put your manger?" Boy did I feel stupid when they both answered (almost in unison) "Nowhere. We don't have one. We have a tree instead."

Well, I dropped the subject, but was completely surprised by their answer. The tree is a substitute for the nativity? :confused3 I still don't get it. :confused3 (Space is not an issue.)

Oh, don't get me wrong. It's fine if someone chooses not to display a nativity. I just don't understand how anyone can consider the tree and the nativity interchangeable.

Yep - it was handmade for my little sister when she was born. It's beautiful. I'm going to start looking into buying one for my parents since she'll be taking hers with her when she moves out in a few years.

We don't have one but my in-laws do and that's where we spend Christmas day.

Typical full scene with Arab looking adults and cute, white, 1yo baby Jesus.

We have two. One is a nice set that we put out near our tree, and the other is the Fisher Price set so the kids and touch it and talk about it, and yes, even play with it.

Yes, we have one. It's not a real expensive set as I love that my DS is able to set it up himself. I wouldn't want to have to worry about it breaking.

I have a large Armani set in the dining room and a lawn-art nativity that's back-lit (did this one maself).

I have one my mother gave me my first Christmas as a married woman. It's actually made of corn husks, wood, raffia etc and a few of the edges are a bit ragged now, but I still love it. I display it in my china cabinet along with other sentimental Christmas things, like the ceramic santa candy dish my mom made me and a Silent Night plate she hand painted the scene on in ceramics class in 1972.

I have the white porcelein Avon nativity set on my entertainment center, and a stained glass my mom and kids made for me on the piano. (My mom does stained glass, and she let the kids help her make mine a couple of years ago.)

Yes, two of them. One was picked out by my DS when he was about 3 years old. This particular one caught his eye for some reason so I bought it. It's a very simple one but very special because of the memories attached with it. The other was a gift from my DS a few years ago, so that makes it special, too. :)

Yes, I have one that is over 50 years old and belonged to my grandmother. I have had it in my house for the last 20 years and I hope that one of my daughter will take it when I'm gone and keep the tradition alive.

Yes, we have Gorham set and it's beautiful....DH's dad started giving him pieces when we was a kid and DH jokes that he never appreciated the gift until he was older. He said, what 10 year old wants to open a wise man for Christmas? Now, we are so grateful because we have a complete nativity :)

I'm not decorating this year, but I have one that my parents got when they were first married. My dad made the manger. It's pretty rustic, but I treasure it.

We were just given the set that my grandmother (Dad's mother) made back in 1953. It's up on the hope chest right now.

We have ours on our mantle.

I am thinking about doing a Nativity Tree next year in my entryway. I thought I could collect Nativity ornaments (I already have several) and make that the focus for my small tree I put up there.
