Do you have a "killer instinct" when it comes to games?

I'm thinking here of board games, in particular, Scrabble. Now I enjoy playing a competitive game, but recently found myself playing Scrabble with someone who had swallowed the Scrabble dictionary.

It was challenging playing him, but when he started coming with words like "xi" I knew I couldn't compete on an even playing field. I'm a casual player who loves to form words but I think it would be an unfair disadvantage if I learned all these obscure words. I just want to play and have a good time.

Actually it depends on what game I'm playing and who I'm playing with. :o  :p

LOL Were you playing with my uncle, Sheree? He's a crossword fanatic, and is outstanding at Scrabble.

The only game I'm a cut-throat player in is poker. I've mellowed out with board games now that I have kids; I just enjoy the games.

I stink at most every game.:p

Oh, will you please come to my house and hang out with me, pretty please?

I stink at most every game too. I'm good at Pictionary, thats it.

DH, on the other hand, has that killer instinct. It SUCKS to be his teammate, he becomes a man possessed. Screaming orders at me, and then acts like a big baby when I screw up. Oh, there have been some MAJOR fits around here over board games. One time when we were first married I threw the entire Scrabble board at him because he was yelling at me. Needless to say, I refuse to play with him anymore. Our friends play cards pretty often, but if I am going to be on his "team" I refuse to play.

Ordinarily he is a nice guy, just don't get him started with board games.

LOL That's really funny, snoopy--I threw the Scrabble board at my ex early in our marriage, too. He was being a smug winner, and I was being a sore loser, though...not quite the same circumstances. :)

Well, ummm, truth be told, I'm not really a good loser either. Especially when the smug winner is yelling at me. :p I guess I just hate being under pressure, and with him, everything has a time limit and is oh so serious. The kids refuse to play any games with him either, so I guess its not just me. :p

I am one of the most least competetive people I know.My dh and mom are the exact opposite. We used to play scrabble and they were so into it. I used to read a magazine in between my turns.

Yeah, especially with something like Trivial Pursuit.

I never lose. By whatever means necessary, I will win. (insert wicked cackle here)
