I finally replaced my coil style cook-top with a used glass radiant top. ( older GE Profile one) but I think it might be defective. The burners come on like at full heat for a few seconds (3-8 seconds depending on the heat setting.) then turn off, then on then off..... It cycles like this even on high heat. ( reminds me of when a microwave cycles on and off on the defrost setting)
It will cook and boil water, but this cycling does not seem right? Is this the way these stovetops work? All of the burners do this.
The guy of course said that it worked great, but it wouldn't be the first time someone lied to me about something.
Thanks for your help.

You are fine, enjoy your glass cooktop!!! I love mine!
I scratched it up the FIRST WEEK we moved in! Make sure you don't scoot pans back & forth. I guess I'd previously had the habit of doing that as I stirred my ingredients in the pans. Every burner is scratched & looks bad. I also use that stovetop cleaner after each use. Oh, & mine cycles on & off, too
