Do you have a glass cooktop?

That's what I use too. I scrub it on whenever I see a spill, let it sit for a couple minutes, and then scrub it off with a cooktop cleaner scrubbie (also found at target by the sponges and such, it's a red rectangular softer scrubbie). I've never had a problem with anything getting stuck to where I couldn't get it off. I think the trick is to clean off any stains you see as soon as you see it and the stove cools off. If you let it sit there and continually cook on it before cleaning it off, I think it sets in more.

I need to look for this scrubby!

I have a stain that is so old and set in I don't think it will ever come out. Boiled over water is the worst.
 
My house came with a Kenmore glass top. The eyes stay red the entire time the burner is on, then a light stays orange if off but still hot. It came with some cooktop cleaner that takes forever to shine, so I do what my aunt recommended and use a damp magic eraser.
 
I finally replaced my coil style cook-top with a used glass radiant top. ( older GE Profile one) but I think it might be defective. The burners come on like at full heat for a few seconds (3-8 seconds depending on the heat setting.) then turn off, then on then off..... It cycles like this even on high heat. ( reminds me of when a microwave cycles on and off on the defrost setting)

It will cook and boil water, but this cycling does not seem right? Is this the way these stovetops work? All of the burners do this.

The guy of course said that it worked great, but it wouldn't be the first time someone lied to me about something.

Our's does that too. It supposed to operate like that. We've had ours forever and this is the normal operation of an electric cooktop.
 

For cleaning, a razor blade is your friend. If I have any baked on food, I use a razor blade to scrape most of the mess off. Then I use either Weiman's or Bar Keeper's friend to clean up the rest. Then buff and shine. My stove top looks brand new(6 years old) and I use it on a daily basis. And I am notorious for boiling over on the cooktop.:headache:

One thing to warn you about, never, ever, ever place anything hot on the cold glass top surface. I had a friend that was making soup or something, removed the hot lid and placed it on the stove top and cracked the cook top.
 
I have a GE Profile coktop and it does it, too ~ even on high :)

I use the Weiman cleaner but first go over it with an Magic eraser ~ works like a charm with no scratches!
