Do you have a garage?

Now that I know how everyone feels about their basements, how about garages? Do you have a 1 car, 2 car or greater? Do you park your car in it, or just use it for storage? Is it something that you are looking for in your next home? I just keep getting nosier & nosier don't I? ;)

We've got a two-car that we park our cars in and use for storage. It's really deep so we have quite a bit of storage in front of the cars (and we have an SUV and a minivan). Plus there is an extra little section (about 6 x 6) off to the side where we keep all the kids riding toys etc. Of course, DH doesn't think it's big enough, he wants a 3 car. When I ask him why he says for the boat. Yeah, that nonexsistent boat that he's been saying he's going to buy for 3 years now. Maybe if we actually GET the boat, I'll consider adding a third stall.

Oh, I couldn't help but chime in on this one!
This is my DH's favorite subject.

We live in a community of large twins,
and we all have (1 car) garages as part of our first floor.
We are one of only a very few that actually
park our car in it, and this makes him nuts!
Everyone has major storage in theirs,
they all look packed full when you see them opened.
And some have even converted the space
to another room in front.
DH gets crazy over it because then everyone "parks up" the street, and he's in danger of losing his beloved
spot right in front of our house...

Guess I'd feel like him if I drove his car :p
I got the new one so that automatically gets
protected.
I'm poking fun at him (shame on me), but I worry
that his worrying over something he can't change
will push him over!

And I truly, sincerely feel badly for him in the winter...
I always tell him to take "my" car but he just won't,
I can't figure that out - but it's his choice!

So, there's my answer - long post for a simple question, eh?

Yes I have a basement with a 2 car garage. We park both cars inside every night. There's plenty of storage leftover.

luvthatduke, That is sooo funny. That is actually what prompted me to start this thread. DH & I have been checking out local neighborhoods that we are considering moving to. During the day many families leave their garage doors open & it is clear that there is no possible way they could fit their cars in there. I think that if we had a garage, we would actually use it. But then again, maybe that is what they all once thought too. :p

We have a 2 3/4 garage. We only park one car in there. Every few months we clean it out and have room for the other, but then we fill it up again within a week or 2.

No basement

We have a 2 car garage with an extra bay for a workshop.

We love our garage. It was one of my "must haves" in a house. It is for the cars. Both to protect them from the "elements" (we end up keeping cars 10+ years, so we try to take good care of them) and because I HATE the cold! I virtually don't go outside in the winter. (In winter, I always make sure we take my car to church so DH can notice it's low on gas and fill it up for me. I don't mind doing it myself if it's not cold. I've been doing this 11 years and he just figured it out last winter :teeth: ) I also will not go outside in the rain. Period. It's just something I don't do.

In case you're wondering, at work I park in a deck that's connected to the building, and I park in a deck at the mall too, so I only have to go outside to get to church, and then DH drops me and the girls off right at the door (during inclement weather, I mean). I love being outside if it's above 60-65 and sunny :teeth:

We also keep the lawn stuff and the bicycles in the garage. We are fortunate that it's pretty big :) We all have bikes, plus the girls have scooters and a wagon. We have a rack to hang all the helmets. We all have bike helmets, plus the girls take riding lessons, and have helmets for that too. (Who knew horseback riding and bike riding required different helmets - lol)

Laurie :)

MagicalMom - great minds think alike,
or at least have similar husbands!

We have an oversized 2 car garage so there is room for cars and storage.

We want the same if we ever move.

2 car garage, but only park one car in it. The other half has lawn mower and various junk stored in it.:teeth:

Nope, no garage, but I do have a barn that I could drive my car into if I wanted. Does that count? lol. Although I would like a garage I have to say that I love having a barn. It's so nice to store things in the barn instead of in the house. We keep all kinds of things up in the rafters of the barn and we've got a little room off of the back of it that we store some things in also.

we have what is considered to be a garage, but if you walked in it you would swear it was a carpenters work shop! our trucks are always on the outside looking in..... :earseek:

We have a two car garage and keep room cleared in it for one car to park. That said, I don't park in the garage unless the weather is REALLY bad. I like being outside and entering my home from the front door. I also don't like feeling like I'm driving my car into my house. We have a long driveway with a gravel parking area near the top - most of the time I park up near the top and walk down to the house. The kids often play in the driveway and their bikes, etc. are stored in the garage.

We have a 2-car, as does everyone else on our street. We are one of the few houses that actually park our cars in them and it drives me crazy. The majority of the houses parks one (if not all) of their cars on the driveway or on the street.

We have a two car garage that we use for the car and truck, and it has a refrigerator, a counter, three fish aquariums...in it along with my DH's sports bike. We also have a tent type garage that fits one car that is on the side of the garage.

We used to but a 10,000 renovation later and its now part of the house and it is my daughters playroom. She also has the finished basement as part of her playroom now too....to many toys to fit on one place LOL.

We have a 3 car garage, and wish it was bigger!!!!!!! We have 3 cars in it, plus a commerical lawnmower, snowblower, 4 bikes, kids toys, tools, lawn stuff etc. I swear we could have 2 garages and still not have enough space. We also have a basement full of stuff, we just have too much stuff!!!

My SO has a work garage. It's a 28 X 30 workspace for him and his toys. The only time my truck gets in it is when it needs a tire rotation or an oil change.:p
