I think we are going to buy a Food Saver but there are so many brands and price-points. The basic Food Saver is listing at about $90 on Amazon, but there are many others at 1/2 to 2/3 of this price. Do you have a food sealing system, what brand, what do you like/not like so much about it?

We have a Food Saver, just the basic one. We have had it for a number of years and did have to take part of it apart to clean down into it but it's still going strong. Hubby didn't want one at first but he recommended one to my son last week. We buy meat in bulk and separate it and freeze it. If you try to freeze it in just zip lock bags you are going to air in it and it's going to get freezer burn, doesn't happen with the food saver. We only use it for meat although it does say you can use it for anything. I tried once to use it on muffins and it crushed them.

We have had one for years !! DH had to have it - we buy in bulk at Costco so it gets used a lot - I buy bags - make my own size rolls - at Costco or Kohl’s - we have Food Saver brand ❤️

I bought a Food Saver (I think that was the brand name too) from QVC many years ago. I tried and tried to get that thing to seal. It didn't work. Sent it back. Thought about buying another one and hoping it will work for me but just haven't pulled that trigger.

I bought this one off Amazon. It was as well rated as the Food Saver. I've used it and the only issues I've had were of my own creation ;).
It was considerably less expensive than the name brand. In addition I simply buy the rolls of sealing material and just use what it required for the size of the item I am sealing.

Here's a link to it - vacuum sealer. It's normal price is $45, but I can see that there is a %20 coupon available which would take it to $36.

I have the same vacuum sealer as @ScottOKW2K above. I use it both for Sous Vide cooking and storing meat bought in quantity from Costco. I bought it from Amazon at the suggestion of my SIL, who has had one for several years. It's been perfect so far, but we've only had it a month.

For bags, I bought these shown below -- also from Amazon. It's a 2 pack of 50-foot rolls -- one 8" wide and the other 11" wide. The good thing about rolls is that you can size your vacuum-pack any length you need without much waste. The cutter on the package is extremely helpful, and the reason I bought this particular one from lots of choices.

Pro tip for Sous Vide cooking: Always double seal both ends of the bag for cooking. Double seal one end with about 1/4 inch between seals, then vacuum seal the food, then do the second seal on that end. This prevents a leak in a single seal from ruining your meal.

i have the food saver brand. when comparing it to less expensive similar products consider this-the food saver has a full 5 year warranty. allot of the knock-offs only warranty for a year or less. got mine at costco when they had them on sale-it happens every few months.

I bought this same one a couple years ago and really like it. No issues at all.

I sort of inherited one from my uncle after he passed and I became the shopper and cook for my family. He never used it, and neither do I. We don't belong to a wholesale club where it would pay to buy large packages of meat anyway.

I bought a Food Saver in May 2020. Things were still bad in the grocery stores & meats were mostly being packed in large family size packages. It’s just the 2 of us & I only had a small freezer. I needed to be able to repack In smaller portions. I haven’t had any problems with it & use it pretty frequently.

We don't have one, but my parents do and they love it. They originally bought a smaller, cheaper one and didn't have great luck with it. They then upgraded to one from Cabela's that was targeted to hunters needing to package up the meat and it is much heavier duty. They shrink wrap all kinds of things for the freezer now.
