I know we have a recipe board, but this board receives so much more traffic. I am in search of a crumb cake recipe, something that is melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Do you have one you are willing to share?

My favorite crumb cake is by Entemanns....yummy....but we can't get them here so I need a replacement to satisfy my cravings.

I make my own from scratch (no box mixes for me!) and the top is brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, with butter all mixed together (into little pellet sized clumps) and then powdered sugar on top!

bumping this for you :)

Val's Crumb Cake

For topping:
2 cups sugar
2 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
4 tablespoons cinnamon (this is correct)
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, melted
For cake:
2 eggs
1 cup milk
3 cups flour
1 1/3 cups sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, melted
Confectioners' sugar

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. For topping, mix together sugar, flour, vanilla, cinnamon and butter or margarine until large crumbs form.

2. For cake, add eggs to milk in large bowl and beat slightly. Add flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, vanilla and butter or margarine and beat together. Spread batter in greased 12-by- 18-inch (half-sheet) pan; scatter crumbs on top. Bake at 350 degrees 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. When cool, sift confectioners' sugar over cake.

Note: For higher crumbs (and thicker cake): Use a 9-by-13-inch pan and bake about 45 to 50 minutes.

Here is another one.

Thanks, Nancy. I look forward to giving it a try. I am not a big apple eater, so I think I will try the first one.

Cindy, I sent you a PM in the hope that you will share your recipe too. Can't have too many crumb cakes around. :teeth:
