So, my cell was damaged during a recent trip to WDW. Just got off the phone with the company and as it is physical damage, I'd have to pay $75 to exchange it. So, instead, I was thinking about upgrading it. I currently have Motorola V180. Basic cell phone with some extras.

Was thinking of upgrading to a Blackberry, but would like to hear from people who have one first. Anything you'd like to share would be SO helpful!

Cheers!

I don't have one but my dh does. I hate that thing, I call it his second wife. He can do everything on it. You really don't need one unless you have to have instant access to emails, and you keep your organizer on it. For my dh, he uses it to receive his dispatch pages, emails, calls, and has his calander on it.

I'm not an expert on any of them but I know in my office they all want to trade their Blackberries for TREOs -- you might want to look at those, too. I'm not sure what the difference is except that they all want the newest "toy". ;)

I have one. To be honest, I can't see why anyone would want one unless you need it for work. It syncs my calendar, task list, e-mail, etc., and comes with a web brower. Do you really need all of that constantly, or can you wait the hour or two until you get home?

I would stick with the basic cell phone if I were you.

Oh yeah, and if you want even more features, then you would want to consider the Treo. It's about $150-$200 more, but you get a camera (.3 MP-- not very sharp), and an MP3 player. Those are the major differences-- there may be a memory slot in the treo too, but I'm not positive about that.

I love gadgets, don't get me wrong, but I think we (as a society) are becoming way too attached to them.

I have a Nextel Blackberry for work and a Palm Treo with Sprint for personal use. The Blackberry is OK. It really depends on what you really need to use it for. The Treo has awesome features. Neither one of them are good phones though. I only use the Treo with the Bluetooth headset or the Bluetooth system in my car because people on the other end always complain about background noise. Not good for such a pricey piece of equipment.

Our company finds PocketPCs much more useful than CrackBerries and is transitioning over. :) But I agree with everyone else... only for work purposes, if absolutely necessary. It's quite a "leash." I wouldn't have any use for it personally. I don't need to be tied to everything and everyone ALL the time.

I was just warned of a new thing called BB thumb very bad like tennis elbow .I have a dent in my thumb now but thats not what they talk about . Mines a work nextel and i'm on it almost from 8-5 everyday I'm getting use to it but still don't like it .With old nex.we just hooked up to laptop and did everything with this we can't have to do it from the BB.My advise DON"T DO IT just get a nice Phone

Interesting Blackberry factoid: every single email sent on a Blackberry in North and South America is routed through the Research-in-Motion server in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

Another interesting Blackberry factoid: that includes every single highly classified email sent from the many Pentagon employees equipped with a Blackberry. The server is considered secure enough by Pentagon standards to allow the use of Blackberry by its employees.

Another interesting Blackberry factoid: President George W. Bush is not allowed to use a Blackberry by order of the Secret Service for fear that the Blackberry signal could be used to triangulate his exact position.

All this neat info courtesy of the Chief Financial Officer of Research-in-Motion in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

Plus NTP and RIM are still fighting in court over the E-Mail use and BB could become a brick if not settled .
