Do you go to the parks the day you travel?

We go to parks on travel day- we drive, arrive anywhere from 2-4 depending on traffic, check in, unpack, and usually go to Epcot- we find it's the calmest, easiest park to just relax and walk around, get on a few rides, have a quick dinner, and then get some sleep before the rest of the week.

We drive down from NY, taking a full day, and a few hours the next morning. We never have a park day that day. We always stay at least 12 days anyway, so the day we arrive, we check in, and visit DTD for a while, get supper, do a bit of shopping, and get to bed early to be ready for rope drop the next morning.

For the times we planned a trip during MNSSHP season, we would arrive early afternoon, check in, get ready in costume for the MNSSHP that day, and then go to MK at 4 pm just in time for the party! This would save a full day ticket since we couldn't be there at rope drop that day.

May I ask where you stop for the night? We come from northern WV, and stop in Walterboro, SC, along I-95. There's a strip of motels to choose from, and a Cracker Barrel that we always visit. We could drive 1-to-1-1/2 hrs further and reach Savannah, but it's desolate, dark, and we'd rather drive in the am, when we're rested. Usually get to WDW around 12:30-1pm.

We are going to. Our flight lands at MCO at 9 AM. We are staying offsite and can't get into the house until 4 PM. So we are going right from the airport to AK.

Our flight out leaves at 11AM, so no parks that day.

We have annual passes so we always take the first flight in and last flight out, and we do hit the parks on both travel days. :goodvibes

Yes, because from where I live (Atlantic City, NJ area) I take a flight to Orlando that leaves at 7:30am and I take a flight back that arrives around 11:30pm so I have plenty of park time on my travel days.

How many times has your flight on Spirit been delayed? I've flown out of AC once without any problem, but I have heard horror stories from others.

this year we have an early flight(get in Orlando at about 9:30) so we are going to the Parks for the first time ever on our travel day.

We catch an early flight out of NY, so we're in Orlando around noon.

We're in the parks well before dinner.

We also get an evening flight home, so we're in the parks on checkout day.

We save a long time for a Disney vacation.... We're not losing a single day ;)

It depends how we get there. If we drive it depends how long and tired we are from the car. if we fly usually not as we have to get early flights to make sure the kids recover the next day

Yes but we take vey early morning flights and are usually in FL by 10 am at the latest

We don't normally but we are going to MNSSHP the day my mom/son arrive. They fly in at 11:15 and it's a direct flight. With it being October it's not likely to have a bad weather delay. I'm picking them up from the airport and heading to wyndham bonnet creek for lunch and a nap. Then we will leave for MK probably around 3:30.

This is exactly what we do, out of the same exact airport and take the same 7:30am flight when we go. When we come home we have an earlier flight though. But its always been our tradition to go to Epcot on arrival day. We arrive at the resort at 11am the latest so we check-in, go to the room (if ready) and hang out around the hotel for a little and hop over to Epcot. Our travel day going home we never have time because of our early flight so we never get park tickets for that day.

For the little extra it cost for the added day, we take advantage of every day we can. We get the first flight in , and the last flight out. I will be in the parks by noon in less than two weeks!!!

Most of the time, we had APs. This year the APs didn't make sense financially, so we have to stretch our 10 day tickets to accomodate 13 trip days. We added MNSSHP and Villains Unleashed tickets for two of the extra days. Unfortunately, it doesn't make sense to buy a separate 1 day ticket for the last day, as our flight is about 4 pm. I'm sure I'll be going thru MK withdrawls on the last day, but we could just do a round of mini golf or go to DTD. We don't like water parks, but its nice to know we have that option if we want.

We always take an early flight so that we can hit the park on that first day. The kids (and us adults) are always super excited to get there asap. The only wrinkle last time was that our bags had not arrived from the airport and we we had to go into the park on a warmish day in 'March in Buffalo' clothes. In the future we will be bringing a change of clothing in our carry on.

I have always gone to a park on arrival day! We just can't wait to get to the parks. But, this year we are going to try something different and just get in, settled, and do some resort hopping, a nice relaxing dinner and to bed early!

I've never gone to a park on depart day because we have always booked early flights back!

I guess it all depends on what time you are planning to arrive and depart. There is SO much to do on property that doesn't involve the parks! You shouldn't have any trouble at all filling in the days!

Have a great trip!
