Yep, every Sunday, I sing in choir and am also the directress of our altar guild. I find that at the point I'm at regarding my church, I take what I need and leave the rest behind. Can't be bothered getting into all that petty, bickering stuff. I leave the politics to those so inclined and go about my business. I've been here since '58 and will probably be buried from there. Sorry for rambling, just got to thinking.

no I don't. I gave up organized religion a long time ago.

Since you live closeby, you should come to our church. It's pretty disorganized. ::yes::

We attend church regularly and have ever since my dad (a retired United Methodist preacher) ratted on us to the local preacher back in 1986. Reverand Martin came knocking and invited us to become members, and we've been there ever since.

Nope, agnostic.

That's not to say I am opposed to going for weddings and funerals and such. Also, I will sometimes go with my Grandmother when I visit back East. I don't believe anything the RCC has to say, but I still think Mass is beautiful, especially in Latin. Very peaceful.

In the past, we went almost every Sunday.

However, over the last 6 months, there have been a series of things that have happened in our church with which we are not comfortable, especially as they are related to our kids. Their Christian Formation (Sunday School) program.

So, recently, we have been going only for the Eucharist, and have not been attending Sunday School. And we are very happy with our decision.

I have rarely missed a Sunday in 38 years. I am one of the few people I know that went away to college and made a point of finding a local church and attending every Sunday.

I started praying again after 9/11. Then a big "wake-up call" when my husband passed away on Dec 2001. I started attending Mass again every Sunday, then a year later, I started to slack off again for a little bit, then started going back to church again. But lately, I kind of started slacking off again. SO....
THANK YOU FOR THIS THREAD...I feel like this is a message from HIM, reminding me that I missed a few Sundays already!

Anway...I feel good when I am in Church, not only I'm in touch with the Lord, but I feel I'm also in touch with my husband. :)

yep, we try to go each week. Dont always make it though ( and still get grief from my mom if we dont lol)

I really like our church now. Weve been to some in the past that were ok but not what what we needed. This church feels like coming home.

I think I was about 10 the last time I attended church voluntarily--before I knew any better. I have gone on occassion for baptisms, weddings and a few x-mas services. But, those are things that I can't really get out of. I don't get the whole thing and I really despise my mom's church and MIL's also. When I'm forced to go, I try not to listen because I'm afraid I might start laughing at the ridiculous things that are said.

No, we don't. I was raised Catholic and there are a lot of things in the church that I do not agree with...a lot of beliefs that I think are outdated and just plain silly. I believe in and agree with some things, but not others.

Same here...we're "recovering Catholics". I haven't been to church since I was 18. I'll never go again. Being raised Catholic in the Archdiocese of Boston was a despicable experience:mad: I don't know a single person my age who goes to church or who is religious. Most of my friends are the same as me...raised Catholic in a Boston suburb, now athiest or agnostic and non-churchgoers for good.

Yes. DW is actually on staff at our church. She's the office manager & finance secretary.

We're very involved in the life of our church. We both teach, participate in the music ministry, & I'm a deacon.

Sorry that you feel that way, Beth, but I am pretty offended by that.

I dont think whats said in Church is ridiculous at all.

Im very sorry that you do though.

The only time I have been to church in the last 20+ years is when I go to a wedding or a funeral. I avoid them at all costs. I've been in a synagogue far more often in the last 10 years as my husband's family is Jewish and and I get dragged to Bat/Bar Mitzvahs.

couldn't live my life without it!
