Do you give anything for the school bus driver???

Well I think you could do both, You could give a donation in their name.

How does one do this? I usually write a check or give cash anonymously. Not sure how to give a donation in another person's name.

I think you would have to look at a particular charity's website but I know the one I dealt with provided us with cards and everything to give to the teachers.

Or I think you could do something on some nice holiday stationary saying that you gave in thier name.

I have seen some people here mention Heifer International, something about buying a goat or chickens for a family so they can provide for themselves.

This site provides printable inserts.

I cant find anything on the Philabundance site but they usually send me something right before the holidays.

I would check with the charities you would like to do this for and see if they ahve anything available.

Hi,

I got the bus driver a gift from Swiss Colony it has some cheeses and sausage and also has a bunch of chochlate candy.

I donated to Make-A-Wish in many people's names this year. It is a wonderful organization. My niece had a Wish trip to Disney last December (we went on our own and met up with them). It was amazing! My niece lost her battle with brain cancer in June (at age four) and I know my sister will always treasure the memories of that vacation.

I always give a $25 gift card to a restaurant, a box of my homemade candy, and sometimes a nutroll. And at the end of the year I also give another $25 gift card to either the mall, gas, dining or similar. I have the best bus driver. For the middle school and high school bus. I give them my candy, and a smaller gift card.

I am so sorry for your loss.:sad1: I am glad she was blessed with her MAW and you all have those memories to cherish. I think your donation is a wonderful gift.

Here is my dilemma. We love our regular bus driver but she has been out with a hurt shoulder for about three weeks. I was planning to give her $20. In the interim we have had a few substitute drivers. The one who has filled in the most is terrible - ds6 says the kids have to tell her where to turn on the route because she still doesn't know. Last week she actually drove to the next town and turned around because she got lost.:confused3 The past few days we have had a different temp, one that we have had in the past. He is much better - reliable, friendly and a safe driver, but he really hasn't driven the route that much this year. So I'm not sure I'm giving anything. I assume our regular driver will be back in Januray and I'll give her the card then.

We have a wonderful bus driver. She makes 2 official stops in our neighborhood, but has stopped and picked up my girls along the way when we've been running late. (We live exactly between the 2 stops.) She gives little goody bags to all the kids several times a year -- Halloween, Christmas, Valentines, Easter, and End of the Year.

We get together with the other families and get her something. This year I'm in charge of collecting, so I know exactly what she is getting. I bought her a Vera Bradley luggage tag and placed a $5 Starbucks gift card in the clear pocket. Inside I'll place whatever $$ we receive. (As of right now, we have $60.) I'm also adding the Glade scented oil candles trio pack (practically free. Thanks to the DISer who posted that deal on the budget board.), a small hand lotion, some sugar free gum and some chocolates. I also have some Purell from my CVSing, and will add that if there is still room in the bag.

The VB luggage tag worked so well that I'm doing that for my dds' teachers, too -- along with a few other things.
