Do you give a wedding gift to people who owe you money?

I would contact them before the wedding and advise them that you assume because you have not heard from them regarding repayment on the loan that they must be tight on money.

Tell them that you want to help them out, and therefore are prepared to deduct $500 from their outstanding loan as a wedding present. (I assume the original loan is considerable). Then I would ask them point blank when they expect to be in a position to start making payments. Tell them you don't mind only receiving only $25 a month, or whatever it is.

Then on wedding day I would send a nice card signed with my sincerest wishes for their big day.;)

I would be angry-if they can afford a wedding-their debt to you should have been paid off first, IMO

Get them one of those new digital change counting banks as a wedding gift. Then come up with a 10 ten list of things to save for using the bank. Put your debt at the top.
