May 2006 DCL Texas to Orlando, priceless. Insurance NO :rotfl:

I would make my choice depending on the time of year traveling more than anything(winter weather, storms, hurricain season). My medical ins covers us any where we go, I confirmed that with them. I did get sick last year on our week long trip to WDW. I went to ER paid co pay and that was it.

In the event of a family emergency, OH WELL. When I am on a cruise I am completly detached from all family and reality :cloud9: My children and DH are with me so anything elso will just have to keep until I hit PC when I turn my cell phone back on. This is the only time (during cruising) that I detach from the world, it's all about Mickey. :earboy2: May will be a 14 day vacation for us, 7 night cruise and 7 night Orlando resort.

In the end, go with what gives YOU peace of mind. :wizard: :wizard:

Echo queen - you said it beautifully! I vacation with my DH and kids and the rest of the world could fall in around us and I would still be happy! Now coming back to reality may suck, but we were blissfully happy for 1 week!

So no insurance here - ever!

Ok now that is freaky. i too was reading the post about travel insurance and when i went back to the board here was the poll. Thanks... for all the post i am a new DIS cruiser i go in about 18 months so alot of this is helping me soooooo much!!!

I wasn't going to buy insurance at first for our recent trip. But about a couple of months before decided to for the peace of mind. I started to get nervous about DD6 or infant-DS coming down with something right before cruise time and then being out of luck. Also with our parents getting older and a 90 year old grandmother I wanted to keep my options open. I paid less than $100 and even though I didn't use it I would do it again. I hope this helps someone.

We have never purchased any kind of travel insurance for any of our vacations including the two cruises we have taken...

until our upcoming trip.

For the 14-day Panama canal cruise, it was too expensive, and too long of a trip for us to skip the insurance this time. (So I voted "sometimes")

Cruise insurance - ALWAYS. There is no alternative place to go like another hotel in the area, another car rental place to go....there is just the cruise ship--if your flight is late, it will leave with out you. If there is bad weather, it will not sail. If you get very sick on the ship, you can't just take an ambulance to the closest hospital. Buying insurance for a cruise is a no brainer for me. You just do it.

My neighbor was at WDW last month. Two weeks before they left for vacation, she found out she was pregnant. However at WDW, her fallopian tube burst and she bled out. Now she was able to get to a hospital quickly for emergency surgery. If that were to have happened on DCL on a day at sea, it is safe to say that that very unlikely and unfortunate situation would have cost her thousands more dollars in transport, extended stay costs, etc. Cruising just takes you away from everything, and that is GREAT, but there is a flip side to it.....

I have never purchased insurance for any other trip or for any of our 4 Disney cruises. I did purchase insurance for a cruise my husband and I took our of San Juan on Princess in October because I was flying my mom from NY down to FL to watch the kids and we also had already gone through 4 hurricanes so who knew. I did finally just buy insurance for our upcoming trip to London followed by our 10 night cruise out of London because we have spent so much money that I would cry if we lost it.

I don't buy trip insurance for our regular WDW trips.... but I really think a cruise is different... We bought it. Just too much could go wrong on a cruise... I'd rather be safe than sorry.
