Just wondering if any of you get towel animals from Mousekeeping at the dvc resorts. We used to stay at WL and got towel animals often, but on two recent visits at VWL we never received any and we kind of missed them. Have any of you been greeted by towel animals upon arrival or on T and T day? :flower:

We did on our first trip to SSR, but that was during the Grand Opening - and it was a cute little horsey....

When I was down for a weekend in February and staying at BCV, it was very rainy and I was going to wander to the lobby. On my way there, in the lounge room with the tv, there were cast members from housekeeping teaching people how to make many different kinds of the towel creations. Most were kids with their parents, but some were grandmas like me who got to make one for my grandaughter. It was fun, and you got to take them with you. I thought it was really kind of neat, and a great diversion for a rainy day.

Never got aan animal towel at DVC in 5 years. On the cruise you get more then one a day. So uplifting!!!!!!

In July we got a horse's head towel animal on the table when we walked into our 2 bedroom at SSR. But it creeped me out....could NOT get the scene from The Godfather out of my head!

About 40 nights worth of DVC stays and I only got a "towel animal" once.

I think it was a camel. Or maybe mousekeeping dropped it on my bed and it just ended up looking like that? :teeth:

Nope, I can say that the towel origami is the only thing I really miss about staying at a regular Disney resort. :)

On your next trip if you get a towel fish in a newspaper, I would sell.;)

We have been DVC members since 1998 and have never received towel animals while staying at a DVC resort. Recently, we stayed at the CR and we only received 1 animal during our entire stay and we were in the tower.

Last week at Hilton Head we had a Minnie head, a towel octopus, and a bunny. We had a room change while we were there, and each room had something different.

This is probably heresy, but I don't get the appeal of towel animals, particularly after you've received one or two. We got them on a cruise, at the Polynesian Concierge and the previously mentioned SSR trip.

I say this mostly in humor (97.83%, to be accurate), but I'd rather have mousekeeping spend their time making sure that the bathroom is clean, the sheets have been changed, and there are no obvious body fluids left over from the last guests....

Be well!

Good post, Dr T. I agree. Give me a clean room. I'll fold those towels and washcloths myself.

We got a bunny on Easter Sunday one year...that's the only one I've ever seen. It was cute!

The first time we stayed at OKW, there were animals all over! We'd never had them before, so I enjoyed them. Never used any of them. We were thanking a Mousekeeper one day and she told us to take them. Didn't do that either!!
(So don't blame me if dues go up 'cause folks are taking the towel animals home :rotfl: :rotfl: )

On my daughter's first trip to WDW when she was four, our mousekeeper at Dixie Landings (POR now) just had a field day with my daughter's doll. One day she made a bascinette for the doll with towels. The next, was the doll in a towel tent. The next the doll was in a towel canoe. My daughter still remembers those things and she's 13 now. We didn't have any towel animals, but I thought that what she did was so much cuter. :goodvibes

Honestly, I think the amount you tip, and if the tip was left in a "Dinsey" evelop or not makes a difference.

After having stayed at OKW and BWV a number of times, when we requested 'full cleanings' on optional days, and left $20 (DD$) in 'Disney' envelops, we got 'towel animals' - other times during T&T days, leaving "Disney envelops" with only $ 10 DD$ in them, we've got smartly folded towels (but not animals).

I've come regularly to WDW since the year after it opened. I've stayed in deluxe, onsite, offsite and DVC. I've never gotten a towel animal.
:guilty:

Mousekeeping is considered a "non-tipped" position by WDW. That said, I always try to leave a few bucks on check-out if the room is in great shape on check-in.

RR: Your first quote may have something to do with the second quote from another thread. Try leaving it early in the trip instead.

We have had a few. At OKW we have had a bunny made from a wash cloth several times, it was in the master bath . And at HHI we had the triple ring mickey on the bed in the master bedroom.

We had a washcloth "snowman" at BWV a few years ago during an early December trip, but the best was a towel alligator on our first night at Vero Beach DVC last December. The CMs there were outstanding, especially considering what they had been through with the hurricane damage to their own homes!
