Do you get these stains in your laundry?

I've been noticing stains on our clothes when they come out of the dryer and these stains weren't there before they went into the wash. They almost look as if chapstick was left in the washer and melted on the clothes. Do you get these? Do you know what they are from and is there any way to get them out?!?!??

Thanks in advance!

I have gotten these too, mostly on my BFs black dress pants. I always thought it was that the detergent did not wash out entirely.

I'm not really sure though.

My guess would be fabric softener. Sometimes if it doesn't dispense correctly or at the right time in the cycle it leaves oily splotches on our clothes. We have a new washer now and don't have the problem anymore. I would check to make sure your fabric softener dispenser isn't clogged up. To remove the spots, try soaking the clothes in Oxy Clean and warm water for about an hour before rewashing without fabric softener. This usually works for us.

If you don't use fabric softener, obviously this isn't your problem and I don't have a clue then. :p

Something may have melted and coated the inside of your dryer. Everytime it heats up its then melting again and going on the clothes. Check the owners manual for a safe way to clean the inside. Until you can do this try turning stuff inside out.

I get these all the time, too. On my dark clothes (dark blue, black). There is no way to get these stains out, either from what I can tell. I thought it was the fabric softner so I stopped using it and I still get them. Drives me crazy!!!

I have the same problem! I hope someone can answer this question. Mine is on dark colors too, my husbands favorite blue dress shirt had a lovely stain on it. Same sort of thing, just a darker shade of the original color.

I had that and then switched from liquid fabric softener to dryer sheets and haven't had the problem since

Another thought is that it could be a problem with the dye on the fabric. When I buy something new that's a dark color I add a cup of white vinegar and no detergent the first time I wash it. The vinegar sets the color and helps keep it from fading. I also got this info from a search on laundry problems:

Greasy spots/stains on load
Cause: Dryer fabric softener improperly used. Do not add to a warm load.
Solution: Check manufacturer's instructions for proper use of fabric softener.
Cause: Drying soiled items.
Solution: Wash items properly before drying. Drying can set stains and soil.
Cause: Improper use of fabric softener.
Solution: Dilute fabric softener and add to rinse portion of cycle only. Do not drip fabric softener on clothes.
Cause: Iron in water.
Solution: Install an iron filter.
Cause: Under use of detergent causing soil to be redeposited.
Solution: Use enough detergent to remove soil and hold it in suspension.
Cause: Dye transfer due to not sorting loads properly.
Solution: Sort dark clothing from whites and lights.
Cause: Dye transfer due to not unloading washer promptly.
Solution: Unload the washer as soon as it stops.

Thanks everyone! I do use fabric softener and dryer sheets. I won't use them in the next couple of loads and see if it makes a difference. I wonder if powder detergent rather than liquid would make a difference too?

I blame this on the fabric softener. When these appear on our clothes, I can rewash them (a pain) and they are gone. I either use a very little amount of fabric softener or none at all now. Dryer sheets work well in the dryer and no stains!!

I wonder if the type of water (hard, soft, well, town, etc) has anything to do with these stains from fabric softener??? Just a thought.

I stopped using fabric softener for this reason last year and havent had a problem since. I only use dryer sheets now.
