WE ARE LEAVING FOR A TRIP TO NEW ORLEANS ON SATURDAY-FOR 1 WEEK. I AM NOT AT ALL LOOKING FORWARD TO IT! SECRETLY, I WISH THAT WE WERE GOING TO MY BELOVED  DISNEY!! I JUST FEEL LIKE IT WON'T BE AS FUN AND RELAXING AS OUR DISNEY TRIPS. WE HAVE WANTED TO GO TO NEW ORLEANS FOR A WHILE, BUT NOW IN LAWS WILL BE WITH US AND HAVE TAKEN OVER THE TRIP!! (I AM GLAD WE DIDN'T INVITE THEM FOR OUR NEW YEARS DISNEY TRIP!!)

AM I WIERD FOR WISHING WE WERE GOING TO SEE THE MOUSE INSTEAD??? :confused3

No, I don't...but we usually have more fun that I thought we would! I hope that turns out to be the case for you.

Yes, I do get excited. We're heading to Colorado in a few weeks for a vacation out there and I'm really excited about. We'll be seeing close friends and doing all sorts of fun things (canoeing, horseback riding, attending a "family camp, etc . . . ). A friend and I are talking about taking our kids skiing next Spring Break and I'm already excited about that as well.

On the other hand, I don't think getting more excited about one kind of trip than another makes you "weird".

Actually we went to Hawaii this past year instead of WDW and that was in June. That August I drove to DL and took the kids. I wasnt as excited to go to Hawaii as I was WDW just because of the lack of activities? I dunno, I am high energy and I just love all the bustle and stuff to do at WDW. Needless to say I want to go back to Hawaii. Once I was leaving I realized how nice a quiet vacation can be.

 I just loving planning a vacation. I think the planning part is just as much fun as the trip itself!!!! Okay, I know I'm weird! :Pinkbounc Anyway, it does kill me when we go with other folks and they do all the planning. It takes alot of the fun out of it for me.

I have a good time going anywhere.

The New Orleans I visited was so much fun, I hope you have a wonderful time. Eat and drink lots!

Nope not at all!!

We are going to Universal Studios and Islands Of Adventures in 9 days and NOT DISNEY WORLD! :sad2: DH doesn't want to do Disney again since we were just there in March. It's gonna kill me being so close to Disney and not going to any of the parks. Everything we have like backpacks, clothes, bathing suits, towels etc... is Disney. Hopefully we wont be stopped by the Universal Police for having all our Disney attire on. :rotfl2:

We are also planning on flying to Georgia for a weekend trip sometime this Summer. I'm actually looking forward to it. I think we'll have a great time.

I know we'll go to Disney a million other times so I'm kinda excited to see other stuff. But Disney will always be my one TRUE LOVE.

Have a great time in New Orleans

I have always wanted to go other places....but I just do not get so excited :guilty: WDW i :dance3:

I look forward to every vacation. For me, it's getting away from the hustle and bustle of work everyday and being able to relax. Here, even when I am off from work, I still am on call to answer questions and try to fix things. But when I am on vacation, I will not take a call from work.

AS PP SAID...I GUESS I JUST LOOK FORWARD TO ALL OF THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF THE DISNEY PARKS. I LIKE ALL THAT THERE IS TO DO AND SEE, I AM WORRIED THAT FOR THIS PARTICULAR VACATION, THERE WILL BE A LACK OF THINGS TO KEEP US BUSY...BESIDES SHOPPING AND EATING!! (WE HAVE 2 KIDS)

WE HAVE TRAVELED A LOT OVER THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS, DH IS IN THE MARINE CORPS, AND WE ALWAYS HAVE A GREAT TIME. I THINK THAT A BIG PART OF ME NOT BEING AS EXCITED ABOUT THIS TRIP TO NEW ORLEANS IS BECAUSE OUR PAST 3 TRIPS THIS YEAR HAVE BEEN TO DISNEY AND I AM SO USED TO PLANNING AND GOING THERE!

I AM SURE ONCE I GET IN VACATION MODE, WE'LL HAVE A BLAST! THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW I'M NOT WEIRD!!

.............LOOKING FORWARD TO NEW YEARS DISNEY TRIP!!.......................

Have a great time in New Orleans

Several years ago we went to Orlando and were not able to do Disney, so we went to DTD and spent a day at DisneyQuest. It was great and something we won't have time for when we "do" Disney. It could give you a little taste and it is a unique place for fun. :thumbsup2

I do get excited going othere places, just not as excited. We are leaving for Washington DC in about 10 days and while I am excited, it is nothing like WDW excitment. If is much harding planning and I know it will be harder to get around and find what we want to do. Our next WDW trip is 6 months away, and I have done more planning for it than Washington.

Of course we do. Vacations are all about our family. Whereever we go is always fun, why because we make it that way. If Disney blew up tomorrow, my family would still be here.

I love planning any trip! I tend to get obsessive which is much easier to do with WDW. While watching the Winter Olympics I saw where they will be in Canada in 2010. I immediately started figuring out how old the kids would be then, where we could stay, whether we should drive or fly...My DH is used to me by now. I plan dozens of trips a year-some we take and some we don't. The planning sure is fun, though. As for New Orleans, my hubby and I had our first adult's only trip there this spring for a long weekend. I had an awesome time. It's easy to spend a lot of $$$ but, one of the best things we did was to get a muffaletta sandwich from Central Grocery and sit out on the river front park for a picnic and watch the barges go by. If you are missing WDW it seems New Orleans has a parade almost every day. Check out some of the tourism websites and feel free to ask me any questions.

This summer we're just going to our timeshare near Atlantic City. HoHum.There is not much to plan unless you count the groceries I'll need to buy and how long we'll stay in the pool. if we were going somewhere with more to do, I would be a little more excited. As excited and in planning mode like Disney? no way.

I too just love to be able to get away. We take a family vacation every year and on the even numbered years, it happens to be Disney. I plan more for the Disney trips but I love to plan any trip even if it's for someone else, Ha!
Funny story though, last night my husband announced that for our 10th Anniversary in 2008, he is taking me on an Alaskan Cruise. My response to that was, "You do realize that's an even numbered year right?" Geez, what is wrong with me!!? I love Alaska but WDW just happens to be in Florida. I have Disney fever pretty bad I guess. ;)

Growing up in NC, my family always had a great vacation at the beach or the mountains. We NEVER went to DW because my parents were smart - the drive down with three kids would surely have killed us all. ;) And there was NO way my parents would fly. The first time I went to DW was just two years ago and to be honest, I wasn't looking forward to it. Being married with a family of my own now, it was the new "right of passage" to take your young kids to DW - right? So believe it or not, I was kind of dreading the trip. Long story short, I was the most amazed in my group! I absolutely loved everything about the trip. I had always loved the Disney movies and rarely missed "The Wonderful World of Disney" show on Sunday evenings growing up, but had always believed that Disney World was for little kids. I am sure I had more fun than my kids did! I made my wife so tired and the kids were dragging everyday. We spent a week there the first trip, and I was ready to go, see and do at every minute. I didn't want the week the end. So we went last year too for a week - at my insistance! Now my kids are a little older (I'm still the youngest though), so we're going to Universal Studios for a week this year in less than two weeks. I haven't told the wife, but I am already planning our summer vacation to Disney NEXT year. I'm sure US will be a blast based on what I have read from OTHER boards here and based on the fact that I am a movie NUT, but from one kid-at-heart to another, NOTHING will top my first visit to Disney World! And don't get me wrong, I've always enjoyed my vacations - the beaches, the mountains, Six Flags, Cozumel, the Bahamas, Cancun, Merida, San Juan, Mexico City, Ixtapa, Washington DC, Busch Gardens, and others, but NOTHING tops the excitement that Disney brings to my southern, grit-eating, catfishing heart! ;)

I get excited about all trips! (well except to the gynecologist).

As much as I love Disney (going again in December) there is a whole world out there to see and experience. Last summer we went to a Dude Ranch and this summer we are going to Europe.

I am grateful and happy to be able to travel to a variety of places. Fall 2007 we are going to Egypt :goodvibes:

Enjoy whatever you do!
