Do you find Borat funny?

I thought it was hilarious :happytv: and pretty damn sad at the same time. Some of the thoughts that people possess in this country :scared1: .

I could have done without the man bits though.

DH & I thought it was hysterical, but we knew going in what we were in for. Borat's character on D'Ali G show was positively our favorite, and we could hardly wait when we heard a Borat movie was coming out.

I watched "Borat" recently. It had funny segments, but I found most of them annoying. I wanted to slap him silly! Do you find Borat funny or annoying?

Annoying.....DH loved it. I thought it was dumb. I hate that kind of bathroom humor!

This is a little off topic but still about the movie. I watch it over the weekend. I get movies from blockbuster online, So when I went to put the movie the dvd looked like a recordable dvd then someone just written borat on it. I was think that maybe someone copied it and kept the real movie. Then when I was watching it and the movie had subtitles at the beginning, I really thought I got a copied of the movie and it was from another country. The next day I was going to tell blockbuster about the dvd that got copied. I was talking with my friend about it and he was like there is nothing wrong with it that is the way it suppose to be.

What is he doing that you find respect for?

Oooh, all right, Charade, I'll take the bait.

Don't know the opinion of the poster whose message you quoted, but, as for me, I respect that he holds a mirror up to the more unsavory elements of contemporary American society (e.g., racists, anti-semites, religious zealots and the gasbag politicians who pander to them) and reflects all of their bile/******** right back at them (particularly chilling was the head of the rodeo in Virginia... especially after seeing him again in one of the deleted scenes on the DVD).

So when will he do a movie about other countries "unsavory" elements? Or is he just singling out the US?

Did you miss the parts where he also jests about Kazakhstan?

And on his show he is all over the map, just so you know.

I kept asking my boyfriend, is that rodeo guy for real?

I loved the movie. It is wrong in many ways, but very funny all the same.

Nice try (boy that's quite a reach you've got). Maybe you didn't realize that he started his whole shtick in the U.K. On British TV. Doing the same stuff to his fellow countrymen that he now does to us.

Now, run along to Foxnews.com (or some other such comparable site), grab the next set of republican talking points, and prepare to fire your next salvo.

Condescension is not an endearing quality. Perhaps you didn't realize that. Hope I helped.

when he did HBO Ali G, I laughed so ahrd and loved them but AI thought the movie was boring

i thought is was funny...

However that said i felt it would have been just as funny without the full frontal nudity though.....

Loved the Criswell "buying a car" bit.... I used to work right around the corner from that car dealership until last year and had our car serviced there a couple times.

Dh and I went to go see it in the theater and LOVED. I laughed so hard, I was crying.

I loved the Mr. Jesus part!

I thought it was funny but not as funny as it was built up to be. There were a few places that I laughed out loud. Those were when he brought the baggie to the dinner table and asked "What do I do with this?" and when they were naked in the elevator and the convention. The jewish bed and breakfast was good too.

Pretty much my reaction.

I found it annoying, but it was also a very "true" picture of the US, IMHO

What do you mean by that?

He's very on and off with me, but often times his humor can be uncomfortable, which I guess is the appeal. I thought his show on HBO was much funnier and more awkward than the movie.

Well said.

I suspect many of the people who have a problem with his act see themselves in his victims. Maybe they even fear they could be the next one caught on film agreeing with somebody who is simply bringing out their true colors.

I liked the film so much I'm going to buy the Ali G show DVD's so I see the rest of his stuff. :thumbsup2
