Do you find a certain stigma attached to booking a Value Resort?

Just wondering if anyone feels a certain way when booking a Value resort? I just get the overall general impression they're looked down on...am I wrong? I have been hovering over maybe just doing a value resort due to me not enjoying the amenities a Deluxe/Moderate offer due to being in the parks as long as I can.

What is your impressions? For those who have stayed Moderate/Deluxe would you book Value again?
With over 250 nights at the Values,I can definitely say there is a stigma attached with staying there.

And rightfully so,they are very "low-class".

BUT,I do feel that a lot of the stigma has been eased with the recent additon of Indoor Plumbing to ALL Values.:)

None at all. We have stayed at all level of resorts at WDW and we were treated wonderfully at the values. Probably the nicest service was at the AS Music.

I will say that when I book rooms over the phone the CMs always perk up when I tell them it's a deluxe resort.

I've stayed at Pop, Grand Floridian, Boardwalk, Beach Club, Poly, Saratoga, Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I didn't think any guests were more helpful or happy than the rest. The only poor CMs I've run into consistently have been at Boardwalk and Wilderness. The best were at Animal Kingdom and Saratoga.

I do think people silently judge where you stay but that's just what humans do.

I prefer deluxe resorts because I don't spend 14 hours in the parks. So I save my money and take a long trip once per year in a deluxe as opposed to multiple trips per year in a value.

Only from the self-proclaimed "resort snobs" here on the DIS.

I've stayed at all levels and I wouldn't hesitate to book a Value resort again.

and fridges! :flower:

I can't wait for my kids to grow up and leave so I can BOOK a VALUE AGAIN!!!!

just kidding..

In all honesty, Values are awesome.. I never really thought about the stigma because when you think about it, those folks staying in value resorts are still paying thousands of $$ for their vacations... and that aint chump change in my book!

I'm going to book whatever i'm comfortable spending. Why would I limit myself to a short disney trip because I decided a room many more times the cost is how I want to sleep at night? Go value and stay longer!

I told my DVC-owning friend we were staying at an All Star in November and she said "That's like the Camden of Disney." (Camden is the poorest city in NJ) LOL. We've stayed at Pop and AoA, so I know what value's are like... it certainly doesn't feel like Camden to me!

We stay where we can afford (and fit, as a family of 5 values are out) at the time. Simple as that.

I don't put too much thought into what other people think about where I'm sleeping during my fabulous Disney vacation. You shouldn't either.

I grew up in Camden and NO WHERE in Disney feels like Camden. LOL What a tool.

I've never stayed at a value because double beds don't work for us anymore and my kids prefer a pool slide. I'm planning a mother/daughter trip during the colder months in a year or two and a value is certainly an option since we will each have our own bed and it'll be too cold to swim much.

It's never to cold to swim at Disney.. they heat the pools. ;)
We swam during out last trip (late DEC).. :)

I stayed at mods & also WL and then switched to Values because I resented spending $ on resort amenities that I never used b/c I was in the parks all day. I stay & play longer and stretch my dollars by staying at Value. Frankly, I eat and drink at the Deluxe resorts (hello, Poly!) and then just pass out and sleep at my Value resort. I get the best of both worlds on a nice little budget. I know my way around WDW and can use their transpo to go everywhere including the monorail & boats. And IMO the busing at POP is superior to the Mods, AKL and WL. Much more efficient and no multiple stops. Def check out the POP resort thread for up to date helpful info re room location to get the most out of your stay.

However the value busses are also dangerously packed.

With all due respect, that's total and utter hogwash. Value resort buses are no more crowded than any other. Packed, yes at times. Dangerously so? The Transportation and Safety board would shut them down if that was the case. Too packed for your taste? Apparently.

You might want to consider renting a car for your next trip.

All busses are packed. Value resorts don't have a stigma. Our first stay was at All Star Movies. My only complaint would be the small beds. But there resort was very fun and the food court was sufficient.

I have stayed at all levels, and will continue to do so based on the "value" for what I am looking for in a trip. Going commando , you bet I will be in a value resort, a bit more relaxed trip I will probably do a moderate and for a "special" trip I will book deluxe. Our last deluxe stay was after my son came back from Afghanistan, next deluxe will be for grandson's first trip so that we can walk to MK. I have stayed at POP more than any other resort on property (hmmm..guess I make too many commando trips). When I was a young single Mom, just staying on property was a dream for me, no matter the level of resort. The only way I could afford to take my kids was staying off property and we were grateful to be able to do that. Now I can stay where ever I want and I still choose values as often as moderate or deluxe.

I've never personally felt any stigma or slight at staying at a value resort. I'm just thrilled to be able to stay on site and get the perks that go along with that. Would I like to stay at a moderate or deluxe, heck yes!! But really, for the amount of time we are actually in the room - the values work out just fine! :)

I don't know if stigma is the right word. However, I do usually associate value resorts with young families and/or large groups. We booked All Star Movies one time because I thought my then 3 year old would love the theme.
We are locals, so when we book a weekend we do want the "fancier" moderate resort (pool slide) because we plan on being at the resort as much as we are in the parks, and the price difference with the AP discount is usually negligible for such short stays. However, if we had to travel to Disney and could only make it once a year or so, I would have no problem staying value to increase the length of the trip. And once my little one is a strong enough swimmer to do the water parks the resort pool will be less of an issue and we will probably try some values.
Anyway you choose to stay at Disney is a privilege that not everyone can afford to do in their lifetime, let alone on a regular basis, so I think it's silly to resort shame.

With all due respect that's your opinion. I have mine. You have yours. See how that works?

Too packed for anyone who doesn't want their face implanted in someone else's armpit or the backs of their shoes being stepped on while holding on during a 50 mph bus ride? Yes I suppose.

My experience was packed buses with drivers telling people to continue to move back further and further. People were standing and packed in tight.

I have never been on a packed deluxe bus. I've never even seen one. Deluxe resorts are smaller and most have one other form of transportation. The math doesn't add up.

I don't think there's a stigma involved. My boyfriend and I always stay at a value, usually either Sports or Pop. We like value because we're hardly ever in our room. We're in the parks all day until the latest open park closes. We never take breaks and go back to our room, we don't swim, we really just wanna be on property and have a place where we can leave our stuff, shower and sleep that's not overly expensive. Maybe one day we'll do a moderate or deluxe but right now when we're there we just go go go so we haven't seen the point of paying more for something we won't be around to enjoy if we're in the parks all day.

If you've never been on a packed deluxe bus, then count yourself lucky. I have, on more than one occasion. And I have frequently been on a packed bus at the mod resorts_and I've stayed at all of those multiple times. May I point out that the mod resorts (except for POFQ) are all larger than most of the value resorts. And that all of the Deluxes, while smaller, have to share buses with at least one other resort. So your argument that deluxe resort buses are never crowded because they are smaller than values just doesn't hold up.

However this side debate has strayed from the topic of this thread, so I will comment no further.
