Do you feel like you overpack?

I have already started packing for trip in 18 days, that is how bad I overpack.
I will however, unpack and repack right before we go and weed out some things.

I always overpack but then I change clothes in the late afternoon for dinner and the evening fun.

Oh yeah! I know that feeling! You see were northerners so have NO clue about how to pack properly for warm weather! Lol Were used to that 118 inches of snow that we got this year from late November until two weekends ago! LOL So basically were trying to figure out what to pack for 70-80 degree weather for nearly 2 weeks! (With driving time lol). Basically for 2 of us (DH and I) were winding up with one large and one medium sized suitcase, plus our pillows! I feel overwhelmed with that b/c normally we can fit all our packign just into that big one!

My 3 children (12, 8, 7) and I go for two weeks and I usually have 6 suitcases plus an "office on wheels" for laptop and paperwork, and two collapsible crates for our kitchen items. I do not take a change of clothes for everyday since I can do laundry, but it still takes a lot of stuff. I've tried to whittle it down, and have a little bit, but we end up using most of the stuff!! BTW, one suitcase stays packed with non-clothes necessities. I'll start packing in the next few days, and let you know if I improve. :teeth:

Oh dear god yes!!! I am a notorious overpacker! My excuse is that I never know what kind of mood I'm going to be in so I don't know what I will want to wear. Add that to my regular habit of changing clothes at least once during the day and a different outfit for evening and I usually bring too much stuff. I do have the excuse that we usually always go in the winter (November, December) so I have to pack for evening and daytime temps.

Still, I always end up with clothes that I don't wear but wishing for some item that I didn't bring. And I always bring too many shoes but end up only wearing two pair instead of the 5 to 10. Really, I am so bad that I'll take 3 pairs of shoes for a quick overnight.

But really, I NEEEEEEED all of the stuff I bring! I wouldn't feel right without it all! :teeth:

They sure are! We were even over the 75 lb limit on the way home because DW thought it was essential to bring home the extra dishwasher detergent. I quickly tossed the $2 worth of soap into the trash and saved us lots of money.

That weight limit burns me up though. We bought a big suitcase because it's so much more convenient to lug that around while toting DD4 and DS1 around. But now we'd be better off financially with 3 small suitcases.

Last year, we bought this great Samsonite suitcase ( 36" high, 20"wide and 12" deep) I thought great I can pack everything in here. When we got to the airport and they charged us an additional $100 because it was overweight. It was 5:00am so I couldn't even go buy another bag. Boy was DH mad. :teeth:

This year we drove and I packed my big suitcase ,a regular suitcase, 2 rolling duffels, a large rolling cooler, 2 backpacks, groceries and a plastic tote for DD's car toys/gameboy/DVD's/ books. For 3 people. :rotfl:

I definitely overpack!!!
