Do you ever......?

There are more buses allocated for the deluxe resorts then there are for the value resorts. That's one of the ways Disney is able to offer a lower price for a value resort.

The reason the bus lines at value resorts seems so long is because the buses run less frequently. Which in turns causes a larger backup of guests.
Nope, as noted, not true. Have you ever stayed at a resort and just stood there, watching all the AllStars buses coming and going???

And it's why you pay more for a deluxe resort. You wait less, your busses are less crowded, so you pay more. You wait longer and there are more people on the bus, so you pay less. Pretty standard, really.

:earsboy:
Again, you don't have shorter waits. I have had the longest wait times at deluxe resorts. You do have more people on the buses. For instance....BW shares a bus route with S/D..all the time. And sometimes with YC/BC.
The value resorts actually have some of the best bus service. Fewer stops along the way, and more people so more buses tend to be dispatched.

Here's what I want to know. Has anyone made a study of which resorts have buses closest to the entrance of each of the parks?

In other words, which resort should I stay at if I want my walking time to the bus stop at the parks to be the shortest?

I always contemplate this about 11pm on my way out of Magic Kingdom.:rotfl2:

(And don't say to drive myself! :) )
Well...that's not going to help you. It all depends on which resort you're at and which park you're at. For instance...at MK, the POP bus is waaaaay down at the furthest point. But, at DHS it is closer to the park entrance. At Epcot, it's a hugely long walk to the POP bus stop. But, at DTD, it's right next to the Marketplace entrance/exit.
The deluxe resorts tend to be a bit closer the majority of the time, but they aren't always the closest bus stop.

:lmao::lmao: For some strange reason I always thought they were alphabet. I never paid attention.. We left Blizzard last yr and played the "whatever resort bus comes first, we will go there for lunch". There were people waiting everywhere.. we waited a good 25 min. for ANY BUS... low and behold.. Pop Century came rolling in..

Can you site your source? I highly doubt Disney's business model is set to give a different level of service to a different resort and that's sure not the experience we have had. Our deluxe stay had the worst bus service ever. Values pretty good, moderates are the best service we have had.

I disagree. I have stayed at several different resorts at all three levels. The most consistently poor bus service I experienced was at POFQ. Bus service at the Poly was also a bit spotty. On the other hand, bus service has always been pretty reliable at Pop Century. Frequent posts here on the DIS confirm my anecdotal experience.

depends on the park. it's mixed. POP is the furthest at MK but one of the closest at DHS.

i've stayed at more than half of the resorts, using the buses at each and in my experience, CSR has the most centrally located bus stop at each of the hubs. other resorts will be closer at some parks but further at others.

Alrighty.. I was under the impression that you lose certain amenities staying in a value resort. The rooms are smaller, the resorts are bigger and the buses don't run as often. And in all honesty, that doesn't sound out of the ordinary at all. The common rule of thumb is the more you pay the better accommodations and service you will get. Regardless if it is a trip to Disney or a cruise to Europe.

AGAIN, I was wrong. It happens all the time, just ask DW.

For the most part we are still Disney rookies. I guess we have been very fortunate when it comes to buses, because we really haven't had to wait very long. We usually stay in the Epcot resort area and use Friendships a lot as well. But we haven't had any problems with the MK buses.

But now im sure after this thread we will have issues when we are back in December!

My family lovingly refers to the post-closing MK walk to the Pop Century bus stop as The Death March. On tired feet it seems like we walk about halfway to Pop in order to catch a bus.

There are more buses for values, but not per guest. And guests at values tend to spend most of their time in the parks because there's little to do at a value. But the key is dumb luck. And I must be dumb, because I get all the luck with buses. To the point that in Dec I left MK because, being so dumb, I left our HDDR tix at the resort, POP. As I approach the buses, I saw that POP had one loading. Great, maximum wait. But just a minute, they're loading a whelchair and having trouble. I pick up the pace a little, and just as I get to the line, the other riders start boarding. I walk through the queue and fall in back of the last guy as he climbs on board.
After getting my tix, I go back where a bus for MK is arriving. Dumb luck, that's it.

I know that when I take the bus from a Deluxe resort, 2 or 3 All Star buses would pass me up before a deluxe came. The worst bus service I have had, believe it or not, was at the Grand Floridian. It shared with ALL the MK resorts. Besides all the waiting for the bus, it took forever to get anywhere. My last GF stay was 9 years ago, so maybe things have changed.

There are times that the Swan, Dolphin, YC, BC and BWI ALLLLLLL share the same bus....busy times just the YC and BC for example. No big bus advantage there at all!

That's why we always rent cars!

The resort bus stops at the parks change periodically, I know this from many trips. I read or was told the resorts bid on the stops, I forget how often.

I wish all buses unloaded at the point closest to the park entrance and then moved on to a stop to pickup :)

WOW.... I must admit that I am surprised how this thread has turned out. I really meant this as a joke, something funny to think about while waiting. I never expected a debate of the bus system. I know there are alot of people who don't like the bus system and prefer to drive. Hey, thats OK, whatever makes you happy. I look at the bus ride as just another adventure to experience at WDW!! I'm sure that Disney does everything they can to make the bus system as efficient and safe as possible.

i haven't seen the bus positions change in at least 6 years. what does happen is routes can consolidate throughout the day depending on season/time of day, so instead of ASMu being #14 at Epcot one day (or whatever number it is), it's #13 with the other two.
