Do you ever purchase snacks off-site?

My daughter went down for Spring Break from MSU (Go Green:thumbsup2) last year and stayed at Pop Century. I shipped a box of snacks UPS to her and it wasn't very expensive at all. UPS said it was even cheaper because I was shipping to a business. When she checked in the cast member told her to wait a min. and went in the back and got her box of goodies.

Sparty on!

That's awesome that you can ship things like that. I had no idea.

Yep! I searched it on the disboards. I sent it so the package would arrive a day or 2 before my daughter. This is the information I found.

If you go to the UPS or FEDEX websites, they can give you a quote on price and length of time.
UPs, Fed Ex, DHL, any kind of courier service will deliver directly to the hotel. My suggestion would be to get the package ready and send it out about 7 days prior to your arrival (you can send it further out if you like they will hold it). If you give yourself enough time you can ship it ground service which is the cheapest.

As for who to address it to you would want to address it like this:

The name of the person who is the LEAD name on the reservation (may not be you, but it is easier to find that way)
C/O the hotel you are staying at/ Front Desk
The address of the hotel
And put HOLD for guest check in and the reservation number if you're the diligent type, it's not required though.

So it would look something like this

John Smith
C/O Disney's Wilderness Lodge Front Desk
Reservation # xxxxxx
901 Timberline Drive
Lake Buena Vista, Fl 32830

I made sure I had her arrival date on the package. I took the box into a UPS store with the information and they did the rest.

We always drive and so we are lucky to be able to,pack whatever snacks and drink items we want without having to stop once we get into Orlando. Some of the things we take with us are:

Case of Water
Case of soda (for those in the family who drink it)
Assorted juices
Cookies
Crackers
Granola/nuts
Muffins or Bagels
Cereal and shelf stable milk

And then some things we can easily pack in our ice chest like:

Yogurt
Snack cheese
Cream cheese
A few drinks for the road, etc.

It's great to be able to take our own food because of dietary restricts, at least if we want a snack we know we will have something we can eat in the room. Also helps in the parks if someone is hungry but not ready for lunch/dinner, I can carry things like granola bars in my bag.

It sounds like a lot of stuff I know, but we don't take all of that all the time, and we have a suitcase we pack it in so its really not a problem for us and whatever we don't use just makes the return trip home with us.

Very cool... anyone know if you can request a microwave at the boardwalk inn or other resorts? We would love to make oatmeal in our room for a quick easy breakfast.

If you are staying in a villa, there should be a microwave in the room, I believe. For any other 'standard' room, cooking devices are not allowed, and the mousekeepers will report the presence of microwaves, crock pots, hotplates, and other electric devices with heating units to management.

I believe an electric teapot with an automatic shutoff is OK, as it is only for heating water. Or maybe I'm getting this mixed up with my daughter's dorm policy? :crazy2:

We drive, and we bring snacks and water, but we don't seem to use any of it except the water while we're at WDW.

Just be careful if you ship packages. I know that some Deluxe resorts will charge you a fee to take your package.

I believe the resorts that have convention centers have the fee for packages. Probably to discourage thousands of people shipping brochures and business cards rather than packing them.

The Disney convention resorts charge $10 for packaged delivered there because all packages come to the business center which is run by an outside firm and they are the one charging for the package.
