I like the way you think! I too intend to someday be able to say I've stayed at every WDW hotel.. and DVC just might be the cheapest way to do it! Thanks for all your replies... while I do have a lot of nice memories at the other resorts... DH and I also have a beautiful memory of getting married at the Boardwalk so that's why I think when I buy into DVC I might try for a small resale there... so we can look out from our balcony (or just walk down the boardwalk) and look at the spot we got married at... and someday show our kids "that is where mommy and daddy got married!"

thanks everyone! :goodvibes

Absolutely NOT!! We have never stayed in a value, and disliked the moderates. We liked the deluxes, but even they pale compared to DVC. Nope, nothing there to miss.

I've never stayed in a value, once in a moderate, several in deluxes. When we are short on points, we will stay in a deluxe, but never look at the moderates. So my answer is NO.

We have never stayed at POR but we visit it because we love some of the dishes at Boatwrights.

They do have some good food there, don't they! My wife and I will "sneak" over there or a dinner or breakfast every now and then. Its one of those best kept secrets.

Well that should settle it!
Howdy Neighbor!

Wow! what a great place to get married. We loved BWV just because we had great memories of strolling the area during our 10th anniversary trip.

One another tip about the boardwalk - we love the option of standard OR Boardwalk view points.

weekend when don't drive back on Friday - are at the values - Pop century.

so you could do that - use your points for weekdays and on the weekend go to the one you miss. you can generally get a good discount with the annual pass or AAA.

I've actually stated to dh that I would be happy to stay at CBR again someday. We may do it if we ever want to extend a trip and don't have enough points, or some other reason. Even though the rooms are smaller, we love the grounds and the atmosphere there!

We had to try Free Dining, so I booked a Mod, the answer is No! The rooms do not begin to compare. The beds are doubles. I guess call me spoiled! I just don't think I can go back.

Yes I Do, I miss POFQ. I love that place, we haven't been there since my son was 10mos old so that is 5 yrs ago. We still talk about going at least for the weekend there. MY DD13 also miss POFQ, CSR and All Stars. She misses all Star for the Game Room:rotfl2: and we also had good times there, Our first New Years Eve in Disney we stayed there and our 2nd NYE we stayed there with extended family. My brother got engaged while we all stayed there. So she does have fond memories of All Star.
My DS6 on the other hand he won't go anywhere but BWV, his second home as he calls it.
My family just made me cancel our reservation at Beach Club because they want Boardwalk Only. Both of the kids, cried but BW is our Home.

Yeah, a little. Most DVC members seem to fall into 2 categories, those who usually stayed in deluxes and bought for equivalent rooms at lower cost, and those who usually stayed in values or moderates and saw DVC as a way to upgrade their accomodations for similar cost.

I fall in the latter group, so I have only stayed in values other than DVC (and once at AKL for a long weekend). I love DVC, but I occasionally find myself missing the fun, over-the top All-Stars and Pop resorts. Overall there is no comparison, however, especially when it comes to the rooms themselves.

We certainly don't miss the rooms at POR. The 1BR spoiled us! Never stayed at a value and probably never will....ever! Before DVC, POR was our favorite and we know we can always visit for a meal or just to take in the surroundings. It was where we stayed our first Disney trip together and it will always be special. As others have said, you can always stay at a mod or value on weekends to save points and get your fix.

we're going to stay for 2 nights at POR before our DVC trip next year.

if we have to spend the same money on a hotel when we get into florida we might as well stay at disney.

this will give us the chance to do a bit of resort exploring and dtd shopping :)

all things we never seem to have time for when we're at the parks

My sentiments exactly!

Yeah, really!

I stayed in POP one night a few years ago. It was OK for one night, but in no way shape or form does it hold a candle to ANY of the DVC studios, even. It's like being in a (nice) Motel 6!

Can't say I'd miss them because I never stayed at them. Even before buying DVC, we stayed at VWL or AKL. Once I stayed in the cabins at Fort Wilderness. A few times we stayed at the Contemporary. Oh, yeah. And one night we stayed at the Yacht club when we couldn't get a reservation at AKL until the 2nd night of our trip. Never at a value or moderate though.

Actually going back to a moderate is what made us decide to buy DVC. Our first three stays were CBR, ASMo and ASMu. We had good times all three trips. We lucked into an upgrade to Yacht Club and then went there two more times. We then went to CSR and while we enjoyed the stay we sure did miss Yacht Club, I thinked we'd gotten spoiled. That same trip we visited friends that we travelled with who were staying in a 1bdr villa at VWL. We bought at SSR a couple of weeks later and haven't looked back. I guess that's a long answer for no I don't miss values and moderates..

I must say that I do not miss the value resorts. We usually stayed at the all stars. I did stay at CBR way back when it was a value as a kid. My DW and I stayed at WL during our honeymoon. While we were there we both agreed we loved staying deluxe and did not want to go back to the value resorts. The only way we could afford to do that was by buying into the DVC. We absolutly love being DVC members.

However we do have times while staying at the boardwalk ans beach club that we felt out of place. There is no way we could afford to pay cash for the rooms we stay on our DVC.

I enjoy the C/S locations in the deluxe resorts better than the food courts at the values. It seems so much less crowded.
