Do you ever get upgraded RESORTS?

We did and have no idea why. We were checking into the WL with a courtyard view. We got asked if we wanted to stay at the GF for the same price. We had a lovely room in Sago Cay, dormer room with a great view. I can't believe we didn't ask why LOL.

we did, but it didn't work out, we had 2 rooms booked at ASSp, we checked in and they told us they were upgrading us to the Boardwalk, but we couldn't stay at the BW the last night, we'd have to go back to ASSp. We were only there 4 nights and didn't want the hassle of moving back and forth; we tried to get them to let us stay at BW all 4 nights but they said that it wasn't possible; so we wound up at ASSp with 2 rooms with soaking wet carpets and fresh paint that smelled horrible; apparently there had been a leak in the building right before we arrived and they didn't want to use the building and were overbooked (?) but they kept the rooms in inventory anyway. We wound up getting each room for free 1 night each because the rooms were basically uninhabitable (they brought in ozone machines that did nothing) and free refillable mugs, which I still use! :)
I still wonder to this day if we had gone to the Boardwalk, if they would have let us stay the last night or not...we didn't want to risk it...

I've never been offered an upgrade for a resort, but I have had my view upgraded :) . My sister made her ressie for WL and was offered Boardwalk for the same price this past spring.

My sister and I were upgraded from POR (then it was still Dixie Landings) to the Contemporary in a wing room. We took the upgrade and the room was huge and access to the monorail can't be beat, but the contemporary just didn't have the Disney theming magic for me.

Lo, many years ago...we had reservations for the WL during the first month it was scheduled to be opened (made at the astronomical sum of $74/night...back in the days when AP discounts were a flat 50% off rack rate)....a few weeks before we arrived they called to tell us the WL would not be open yet and offered us the CR tower for the whopping sum of $98/night...we took it in a heartbeat....then on arrival they bumped us up to the 14th floor!! We stayed 6 or 7 nights on the 14th floor for less than $100/night....don't think that will ever happen again!!

When we complained about some problems at POR we were upgraded to WL courtyard king at no charge to make up for it. We now don't want to stay anywhere but WL.

We got upgraded from ASM to the Poly last March. We don't know why. All they said was that we did not have a room assigned to us, would we mind staying at the Poly? Of course we said Yes.
:cool1:

The only problem now is that we're planning a trip next year and enjoyed the Poly so much that the next trip is going to be very expensive.

Things like this just NEVER happen to me...

Ok so I will be arriving at very late tomorrow night. Does that mean I may not have a room? As great as an upgrade would be as my flight arrives at midnight, I dont really want to have to go from resort to resort looking for a room. I have heard most of the resorts are full. I am reserved at ASsp. What do you think will I have a room or not. My DS6 will just lay on a couch if no room is available. LOL When I stayed at WL they told me they only had smoking rooms and as my DS and I have asthma (yes noted as medically necessary on reservations) I told them to get us a pillow and blanket for the sofas in the lobby or a non smoking room. :rotfl: As I said this I noticed a man all cuddled up on one of the sofas. they did find us a room no problem.

We're arriving late Friday night, but I want to stay where I'm booked. WL courtyard. I think the only thing better to me and DH would be a 1 or 2 bedroom villa at VWL. OK, maybe I'd settle for the GF...but DH doesn't like it there all that much.

I hope we get a GOOD courtyard view.

I've been upgraded rooms in a resort but never to another resort.

I know someone (if I remember correctly) was upgraded to AKL from POFQ. POFQ was going to be closed and they already had reservations there so they asked them to move to AKL.

We were upgraded from CBR to WL when the WL first opened. We had reservations at CBR, but we were called by Disney a few months before our trip and offered a room at WL for the same rate we were paying at CBR.

I think they were trying to fill the resort since it was brand new.

What a deal!

When POFQ went down for rennovations 2 summers ago we were given a few options.

1 - swtich to another moderate at the same price
2 - switch to AKL savannah view for $10 more a night
3 - switch to Poly for $30 more a night

We ended up doing 3 nights at the Poly and 2 at AKL. When we got to AKL, they took our 2 rooms and upgraded us to the 2 BR suite. Not a bad upgrade from POFQ. I'm guessing it is because we were there for a short time and they could free up more rooms that way. I'll take that upgrade any day!
