that the internet is "a small world"? What I mean is, I was going to ask for help with a dilemma that I just had thrown at me. I had it almost ready to send and I thought - what if this lady is on the DIS? What if someone from her office is on the DIS? Then I chickened out and erased it. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Have you ever thought twice about posting something for fear it will come back to bite you in the butt?
YES, twice I've had this happen. The first time I just went ahead and posted something that happened because I was really looking for advice. After I posted it and received a ton of replies, I was afraid things were going to get nasty so I asked to have the thread locked.
The second time was when I posted something and the more I thought about it the more nervous I got that feelings would be hurt, so I actually contacted a moderator to delete the thread. They graciously did so. THEN I felt bad for the people who had responded to the thread and opened up to me about their situations.
Now, if I'm looking for advice I'm very careful about what I post. But, like another poster said, I try not to worry too much because I'm very careful about not using other people's names or identifying information.
Having said all that, I do know that there are many, many caring people on this board and there are a lot of people with excellent advice. I just try not to be too impulsive when I feel the need to vent or ask for advice.
So, yes, I definitely think twice before posting.
