Do you ever forget where you are while you're driving?

This happened to me the other day (and I am only 40)! I told myself not to panic and that I would figure it out and in a few moments, I did. But for those few seconds... it is quite unnerving! Does this happen to anyone else my age or should I write myself a note to remind me to worry about it?

I've never forgotten where I was but I have realized that I can't remember driving a certain distance and it wigs me out that I wasn't paying close enough attention.

I've never forgotten where I am, but I have forgotten where I'm going while driving. Freaks me out enough to cut back on hours at work and partake in some retail therapy for stress management. :thumbsup2

I guess I have forgotten where I am because I will think I am on one street but I am really on another. For a couple of seconds I am confused about where I am. I think it happened because I drive the same two streets everyday multiple times each and during times like Christmas my mind has a million thoughts running through it. This has only happened to me a couple of times, one of which was just the other day, and I am only 31.

It happened to me once. For a fleeting second I had no idea where I was. I attributed it to stress.

I often do the "Wow, I'm here already? I don't remember anything since about five blocks ago" thing and it's usually when I'm driving to work or to my son's school - places I go every day.

I often forget where I'm going! Also the just going blank, realize you're driving & are totally zoned out, happens to me too! I've noticed this mostly when I'm really stressed out. I don't think it's age or early Alzheimer's because it was worse for me, a few years back. Again I'd say it's probably stress.

Maybe your blood sugar was really low. Earlier this year, I rode in a bicycle event that took about 5.5 hours on the bike. When I completed the ride, I tried to calculate the time on the clock including breaks. It was a matter of counting the hours between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. I couldn't do the math. It took me a few minutes to do that simple calculation and what's more it never even occurred to me to count on my fingers. I think my blood sugar had dropped to the point that my mind was on the verge of shutting down.

Yes. I some times zone out, like just constantly watching the car ahead of me, when all of sudden I like come out of it...and then look around thinking where am I, then recognize where I am, and think...I don't even remember passing such and such area..
