I feel a little like a traitor. The buy 4 get 3 deal actually works really well for my family's situation. Besides, due to upcoming Dec trip, I would have to borrow points from 2010, and I don't really want to.
I feel like a bad DVC owner - lol

When I went to DW in 2005 over July 4th I ended up paying for my stay at Port Orleans Riverside. I did not have any more points to use and I couldn't borrow because of a trip I have already booked for the next year. When I paid for my vacation with my travel agent it dawned on me that this was the first vacation since 1999 that I actually had to pay for and I wasn't even staying at my home resort.


I will say this, I felt sad when I checked in at POR, no "welcome home" but hey I got over it really fast because I was in Disney and I wasn't planning to be.

Try this and you might not feel so much like a traitor and more like a financial genius:

Take the dates you're going, figure out how many pts it would take you to take a similar trip on DVC... now multiply by $11 (is that the going rental rate?), add in the cost of tickets (dining etc). Compare that to what you're spending.

I say, If you've got the cash and don't want to add on right now, do it!

I think whatever makes you and your family happy, you should embrace and enjoy!

On a personal note, l do feel that I spent ALOT of money on DVC so we REFUSE to pay cash for accommodations for a separate trip, although I'd pay for an extra night at a DVC resort with the discount.....however that hasn't come up in a really long time.

I'm guessing you are saying that you are a DVC owner who can carry your points and still afford to do a cash trip to get the great promotion. And that makes you feel guilty. The only way I would feel guilty might be if I owned like 2000 points and still had the spending money to buy cash rooms to get the great promotion. The number of points obviously is relative.

Don't worry about it... It's just now that we realize how good you have it.

We are doing the buy 4 get 3 deal as well. We wanted to go for Mardi Gras and could not use any of our AKV points yet so it was perfect timing for us.

We're going on the 4/3 deal in June and were able to swing CL lagoon view at the Poly! We were out of points anyway (and only 54 coming in Aug 2009) because we went so often last year, and it was just a deal too good to pass up! No reason to feel guilty about DVC!

I cheat on DVC with Disney deluxe resorts all the time, that is how I know they treat them better than us and keep the resorts in better repair and get better housekeeping.

never feel guilty... as long as you can afford it without anybody walking barefeet in your family go for it...

Some dates even qualify for a $200 WDW gift card. I booked two separate rooms/reservations, and will get $400 off for our party of 6.
I'll admit it. I cannot be faithful to just one resort, when each one has something new and exciting to offer! I'm a WDW floozy.

Those boys will be 25 and 27 before you know it! If your finances and savings are in order I say take this and every opportunity you have to spend time and make memories with your family. Play pirate while you have the chance! Enjoy your trip!!

On the other hand if it's a financial strain--you can always play pirate at home or wait until next year.
