It has happened to me twice. The perfect contract, but life prevented me from pulling the trigger. Now I have a price point/contract in my head that’s completely unreasonable, but if I buy at ROFL clearing level I will feel like I overpaid. Honestly it had kind of soured me on the whole process of adding more points (that we don’t need, to be clear).

I haven’t had that experience yet, but I can imagine how difficult it is to want it and but realize that the ROFR floor currently in place changes things up.

If I was in the market for something, and has the patience, I’d just try at the level I want and see if I could find a seller who might be willing to accept because remember , sellers get paid either way.

I sold SSR in March at $120, even though it was well below what was happening because even at that amount, it was good sale for me.

My poor buyer lost out, but I, as the seller did not!

Yep! I think about several 160-point AKV contracts eyed between 2017-2019, every day. I could have and should have just bought then. Hindsight is 20/20 as they say.

It pains me to look at the current ROFR-clearing prices for AKV... still doesn't stop me from looking though :faint:

I don't really have regrets since I made the best decisions I could with the information I had at the time, but at some points those decisions were not in my best interest (lol).

I negotiated a contract at $129pp at poly, it was not far into covid (fall 2020), but I got cold feet and backed out.

Two months later I was determined again, and got a similar contract at $132pp at poly.

That awesome poly contract was the second on this forum (pretty certain, based on what I've seen in the ROFR thread) that was taken through ROFR.

One of those 160pt AKV contracts made me a member. $79/pt. Then slid in a 25pt direct for benefits before the changes. Good timing. It’s been working out well for us so not sure I’ll ever add on again. It’s enough to borrow or bank for larger accommodations. Going less often is even more appealing 6 years later.

June of 2020… I had purchased (or so I thought) a 200 pt BLT contract for $135 a point. I signed the documents… the seller signed the documents and then a week later the seller backed out of the deal. I had “legal recourse” but didn’t want to get into a legal battle and rather just decided to let it go. It still hurts

Ugh! I’m sorry! That’s really annoying.

I saw 100 pt contracts for BCV for $85 in 2011 and thought I shouldn't spend that for my income level, especially since we wanted only 80ish points to use every 2-3 years.

I can’t complain but I very nearly bought 300 BCV for $101 in ‘18 or ‘19. Ended up sucking it up and paying boucoup bucks at VGC instead for $160(I REALLY had a hard time with the price ha!) but I’ll always regret not buying both! I got up on the shortened contract length and under appreciated the points charts. Now, I still cant get past the contract length and certainly not at the current price. Maybe Riviera will call to me.

Yes. It wasn’t life that stopped me, but DH. I wanted to purchase our first contract before they removed the ability for resale contracts to book at new resorts. He wasn’t as committed.

We ended up buying our first contract a week after the restrictions came in.

I may still be a little salty about that.

I started looking into buying DVC in 2010/2011? Our DD was young and I thought a 160pt contract at AKV was perfect. We rented points there twice and I was convinced. Dh was not. He did not want to go to Disney every year. Or every other year. Or ever really.

Resales prices were around $62 or something like that for AKV at the time I was seriously looking. We ended up having two more kids in 2014 and 2017 so wouldn’t have traveled as much as I planned but since 2012 have taken 5 trips or so. We could have rented out the points on off years. And the points wouldn’t have been restricted.

I ended up finally buying my first contract in 2020 after a massive surgery. I told DH if everything went well with the surgery I was buying the contract as soon as I woke up! Lol. Of course, the week I had the surgery Covid hit. I think I ended up buying in May or June 2020.

I try not to think of the extra cost I paid in 2020 bc it all worked. AKV isn’t really my favorite but we could have made it work. As for DH he still doesn’t love Disney but loves his family so he has been to WDW 4 times in the last 4 years with 2 more trips planned :)

I also bid on a 50 pt BLT contract during Covid and it was accepted. It just didn’t sit right once I heard it was accepted. I don’t love the grounds at BLT. So I backed out and bought BWV.

Now, I am wishing I bought BLT bc I love the MK area. I do like BWV but am not a big Epcot person so we have sold that contract and hope to buy BLT in the future. I think it was around $150pp which isn’t bad for a small contract.
