Do you eat the same meals each week?

Basically we do eat the same things but I try to find something new once in awhile to mix things up. My newest meal is black beans and rice. First time I made it with a tomato sauce but the girls didn't like it too much. The other day I made it with some herbs and peppers and everyone liked it and asked for seconds http://www.recipezaar.com/recipe/Classic-Black-Beans-and-Rice-46221

We always have homemade pizza on Friday's and sometimes on Sundays. Then we have a pasta night, chicken night, lentils and rice and leftovers night. And can't forget once in awhile we eat at the inlaws:cool1: I have stopped making meatloaf because the girls don't like it too much. We used to go out to eat more often where we lived two houses ago, not so anymore with a mortgage and high taxes.

I think we eat the same things on a two week basis, rather than weekly - so in a 2 week span we are sure to have spaghetti, bean burritos, tacos, a few other "standard" quick meals for us somewhere in that time.

Today I am making shredded beef in the crockpot - ran into a manager's special roast (4lb - total cost $5.03) that was $5 off last night at the store - so I am cooking it today - will use the shredded beef in a variety of different meals over the next few days or freeze it for another time.

The only meal that we consistently eat each and every week is tacos. So many ways to make them and they are our family's favorite.

The only thing we eat each week is tacos. Its the ONLY meal ALL of my family will eat. :) I have some picky eaters, so I try to rotate a lot meals to accomodate each palatte, plus I cook a lot of seasonal items which changes often with the fresh produce, etc. available or on sale. I must admit I like variety in my meals as well.

No, not really. I probably make the same items on a monthly basis but not on a weekly. I usually have a new recipe that we want to try each week so there's always something new coming into the rotation.

So funny. Us too. DD started what she calls Taco Tuesdays.

I plan out our meals two weeks at a time and try to include at least one thing new each time. But it does seem like I'm making the same things over and over. One day a week we always have what we call FFY(Fend For Yourself), everyone is responsible for their own dinner. I can see this might be harder with younger kids though.

Our favorite way to make black beans and rice is plain but with optional toppings. We have little bowls of diced tomatoes, avocado, shredded cheese, diced red onions and sour cream. Everyone can put whatever they want in their portion. It's a good and easy meal!

I wouldn't say we eat the same meals, but we follow certain patterns for certain times of the year. For example, now that the summer is here, we'll be eating more grilled meals with cold salads.

During the school year, if we're eating at home on Sunday, I make a big enough meal to carry us for at least two nights. Like I'll make roast beef, chicken or pork, then have hot open-face sandwiches on Tuesday night. I give it a rest on Monday. :) Or I'll make a big pot of sauce with sausage and/or meatballs, so we have pasta on Sunday and sausage/meatball heroes for another night. I usually wind up with a container of sauce leftover that I freeze to have with ravioli another week. We always have pasta one day of the day.

I'll try to do a crockpot meal another night, and we get pizza out at least once a week, often on Friday.

I live alone, so when I buy a chicken with some veggies to eat, I find myself eating it for a few days before I finish it. Same goes with any pasta, lasagna, or fish.

My wife calls me a boring eater because I stick to the basic things I like. I think I have a pretty good variety as basic "meat and potatos" goes, but I have favorites that I tend to gravitate to on a regular basis. I'm happy with what I eat and as long as I keep it relatively healthy I see no reason to change my ways.

No, we rarely repeats meals actually (I started a blog just to keep up with all the new recipes I try so we might have a chance of actually finding it again and making it again!). But finding new recipes and cooking new things is a hobby for me; I enjoy it. Growing up, we ate the same 20 meals over and over again but we (DH and myself) would hate that now that we're used to trying new things constantly.

Now when we have children... I'm sure things will change drastically ;)

I try at least 4-5 new recipes a week.
There are our favorites which do make it onto the menu every month or so.

We have finally figured out that we needed a meal plan. We spend a lot of $$ on groceries, because I do not have meals planned. And then spend a lot of $$ going to restaurants.

It was tough finding stuff that most of the family liked, but in the end I decided that a pbj for dinner once in a while never killed anybody.

I think the meal plan will greatly help us. I believe I found 18 different meals that we will mostly all eat, and I planned them around busy/not so busy days.

I am anxious to see how this helps our budget!

No, but it would be easier that way and I've been tempted to do it before.

I'd say we rotate between about 15 or so different meals.

Yes, we do tend to eat the same stuff all the time. Thing is....my DH is very picky (likes to stick with what he knows and he's fond of trying new things--burns my a$$ LOL) In our rotation is....

Weekends there is always spaghetti/meatballs (it's what's for dinner tonight) then I will make either meatball grinders with the leftovers or make a baked ziti (bought the stuff for ziti this week)

I will also have tacos either once a week to two weeks.

Burgers will be cooked once a week also, either frozen burgers, homemade burgers or chicken burgers.

Chicken of some form shows up usually about 2x a week. I will either make a whole chicken dinner on the weekend or I'll flatten the boneless breasts out and stuff them with stuffing/gravy or cheese or whatever. Once in a blue moon I'll make some sort of chicken casserole (nobody but me is fond of this so it's once in a while)

Every couple of weeks I'll make a roast whether it's a chuck roast or pork roast.

Meatloaf will make it into the mix every 2-3 weeks or so.

Every couple of weeks I buy fresh cod and salmon (salmon for DH and cod for me and DS14)

Maybe once a month or two I'll make a couple of homemade pizzas.

And if it's one of those "gotta get something on the table quick nights" I'll bust out the grilled cheese skills!!!

Then I get paid every other Friday and usually that night we'll order out.

I'm one that I'm willing to try just about anything that I find in my cookbooks (I have a ton of Taste of Home Cookbooks that I LOVE) and my oldest is pretty good at atleast trying something new. DH and DS13, not so much. :sad2:

We grill once a week... what it is that we grill (chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, steaks) depends on what we feel like, but we usually rotate meats.

We also have pizza (DiGiorno, Freschetta) once a week, on hectic days.
