Do you drive a SUV, Car, Mini-van?

I drive a 1994 Saturn. Dh drives a Chevy Blazer.

This is us except DH has a 2002 Saturn and I drive the Blazer. We are trading in the Blazer for a van in another month or so though. The Saturn was a trade in for our old van and we haven't been able to find a van we want yet to trade the Blazer (I need more space then the Blazer has). Dh might keep the Blazer though, not sure yet. We will keep the Saturn for when DS starts driving.

I drive a '98 Saturn SL2. I average about 30 MPG highway and about 24 or 25 city. I fill up once a week, lately it's been $25 a tank (give or take). I get 300 miles on a tank.

DH drives a Ford Ranger (truck). I have no idea what his MPG is, all I know is that it costs him double what I pay to fill the tank and he fills up 2x a week when he drives to work every day. When the fuel prices first spiked after Katrina, he started taking the train to work. Even with the cost of the monthly train pass, his total transportaion costs droped by over half when he did that. We hope to buy a new(er) car for me in a year or two, then he'll drive my old Saturn to/from work and the truck will be just for weekends, home improvement projects, and towing since it has a hitch.

I've always driven cars. I hate SUVs and would never own one... unless I were living way up on a mountain in the middle of a forest with no paved roads. And even then I'd probably get a small Subaru.

I think it's pretty much a myth that SUVs are safer, plus their gas consumption alone is ridiculous!
