Do you do your partners ironing?

I got divorced so I wouldn't have to do his ironing agin ;)

Hya Jodie

Don't budge on this one girl!! when i started seeing my now husband nearly 10 years ago he was adament that he wouldn't do housework and especially the ironing, i said if he wasn't going to do it then he would have to PAY me to do it, seeing as i work full time along with him, i think it took about 6 months for him to realise i wasn't joking and about a year to have him fully trained, he now does 75% of all the ironing and the housework and cooking is split down the middle, maybe i've just got a good un who was easily trained but if i was you i would definately stick to your guns on this :smooth:

Good luck,

ttfn

Excellent thread - l don't do DH's ironing as a rule, l will iron his Fire uniform if asked but he's soo fussy! There must only be 1 tramline on this shirt sleeves and if l do them there's usually about 3 :rotfl:

All l iron is the DS's clothes and my work clothes, all the rest l iron when required.

Saying that even though l don't iron that much i'm still on my 3rd or 4th iron since getting married, i just break them

My mum used to do mine when I worked full time...having given up work to look after our children 5 years ago....she STILL does it! Bless her! To be honest, if she didnt, I would farm it out. I loathe and detest ironing, but I quite enjoy all the other household chores. DH doesnt get time to do it (fair enough, I wouldnt expect him to as he is out at work all day, and Im just at home with my feet up watching Trisha...yeah right!). I have only seen my DH brandishing an iron once since we met, and it took him 15 minutes to iron one shirt!

I would trade..if he really CANT iron (a common fault in the male population!) then make a deal that he must take over some other less desirable tasks. Cleaning the toilet is a good one. Putting the grocery shopping away is something else I hate personally as well! If you dont give in, I bet he will still take it to his mum to do...mine would!

I do our ironing, unless I ask him and he will do some of it. :)

MY DH worked over 120 hours a week when we got married so I did all the chores as I didn't work. Soon enough, I paid someone else to do the ironing as I disliked having so many shirts.

Now, I simply buy non-iron shirts for him to wear to work, so there's less to do anyway.

Yes,

i do the ironing - I'd hate my shirts to be ruined! - LOL

Ahem! I heard that Shaun! I remember the skirt I had with a large iron shaped shiny patch right in the middle of the friont of it!!!

DH learnt to iron his own shirts etc when I was heavily pregnant with DS. 16 years on, he still does most of his own ironing.

These days, when most couples both work full-time, it's only fair to split the chores.

Hello :wave2:

Showed my df all of your replies.

He is still in denial about his own ironing, Last night he offered to make me a cup of tea on the condition I did all of his ironing! Needless to say I reeled out a few choice words & got my cup of tea anyway!

Hi Jodie
My friend who has been married for 2 years only does the ironing for herself and her daughter and leaves her DH to do his. In our house I tend to do most of it as I am washing daily anyway as I have a very mucky 2 yr old. My DH was in the Army for 8 years and is much better at ironing than I am but I whiz through it just to get it done as I couldn't bear to see a load of washing hanging around.
My advice is let him to do it or do it for him on one occassion but make such a bad job that he then will want to do it himself :rotfl:
