Do you do anything silly to comfort yourself?

When I was younger I used to suck my middle and index fingers with my left hand and I would pull my hair in front ofm y face and hold it there with my pointer finger.... Well I grew out of the sucking finger phase but to this day I still sit and smell my hair when I am bored or when I am nervous... I hardly even notice it... weird huh? LOL but it's very comforting to me. My dad still yells at me to this day " Stop eating your hair"... I'm not eating it.. I'm smelling it... LMAO.

I hold pillows or stuffed animals. The bigger, the scooshier the better. :)

Too funny preshi. I work with a woman who does the same thing constantly.

When I was little I used to suck my thumb and rub the satin edge of a blanket under my nose. Well, luckily, I stopped sucking my thumb last year (), and I don't rub the satin under my nose any more, but I still find it comforting if I rub something satiny feeling in my fingers (and I do not want any smart remarks here either!)

You're not going to believe this, but I did almost the exact same thing! I twirled my hair instead of smelling it, though. I gave up the twirling when I was about 10 or 12 because my dad has the same habbit and he makes a bald spot because he twirls that section of hair so often. :)

My dd does that hair smell thing I didn't think anyone did that but her.
Oh and I twirl my hair round my fingers........well when it was long enough to to that.

Hehe, I do the same thing when I try to sleep. I curl up in fetal position, and grab a big fluffy pillow.

When I was younger I used to pull & twirl my hair and if I was really nervous I would pull it infront of my face like you said but sometimes I would wind up biting on it (that's when I was really really nervous). To this day I still pull on my hair & twirl it when I am nervous.

I'm a hair twirler too. I've also been known to rock in a non-rocking chair when things are really tense.

I stuff my face....and I put on the largest, sofest sweatshirt, sweatpants and socks I can find.

shep, you twirl your hair too?!

I just play with myself
:teeth: What do you play?;)

If I get real stressed, I claw my arms to calm me. I don't even notice I'm doing it until after I'm calmed down and my arms start to burn.:o

I play with my hair, not twiring per say, but just running my fingers through it and sometimes smelling it. And yes I do sometimes still sleep with stuffed animals. :o I used to find my comfrot in food, but have since learned that is not good for me.

And Jason...ummm that may be TMI. roflmbo:teeth:

Me too!!!!!!!!!

I rub my forehead, or if at all possible take a nice hot bath.

I used to chew on my hair. Now, I read and listen to music or call DBF and tell him I need his shoulder to cry on or to worry on depending on the circumstances.

I rock myself also, and twitch my foot, or move my leg up and down really fast (drives Stephen crazy). I also sleep in a fetal position hugging a pillow. I still do this and I have been married 22 years. Stephen doesn't mind, he's not a cuddler.
