So my husband says I am torturing myself by listening to the podcast each week and by reading the boards since we don't have any trips coming up. Do you DIS when you don't have any trips planned?

My philosophy is that you never know when a trip might come up and I want to make sure I am caught up on all there is to know ;)

I DIS all the time...whether a trip is planned or not because my friends are here! And like you said, you just never know when a trip will pop up! We weren't initially planning to do the podcast cruise, but an opportunity presented itself, so we hopped on the bandwagon...and we weren't planning on PCC 2.0, but DH decided to re-book while on PCC 1.0...and I wasn't planning on DAP, but you know how it goes! :thumbsup2

After my trip in May of '08 I was upset that it was over and took a 3 month break from the boards. As soon as I came back to the DIS, I decided we needed to go again the next year! I don't post a whole lot, but I read up on all the news and listen to all the podcasts.

I definitely DIS when I don't have a trip planned. I don't know when our next trip will be, but it never hurts to be prepared. Plus as a Disney fan I just like hearing what's going on in the parks.

I agree with Brandie and Willow. The Dis is cheaper than therapy and there are such great people here that some of my best friends are from the Dis. I come to this board almost every day and the podcast is something I look forward to each and every week. :thumbsup2 The podcast crew has become like family and I take the advice they give very seriously. For instance, I have ALWAYS stayed out of lakes because Pete told me to.

I continued listening to the Podcast after my last trip but took a couple month break from the boards, mainly because I was extremely busy in other parts of my life and didn't have time to log on. I am now more active on the boards, though I mainly am only posting on the Podcast Board now and have made many Virtual Friends that I will soon meet in person.:goodvibes

I DIS all the time, even when I don't have a trip planned. I like to stay informed about what is going on down in the World and listening to the podcast helps me do that. Plus, it makes me feel like I have a connection to WDW even though I'm not there. I think going on the boards and listening to the Podcast makes the time in between trips less torturous.

If I'm not planning a trip of my own, I'm planning someone else's so yes, I still DIS. Sometimes I take a break from the boards for a week or two after I get home from a trip, but I don't miss the podcasts, they usually cheer me up from post trip depression.

So true! People are always asking me about stuff since they know how crazy I am about DLR/WDW...that is another good reason to tell my husband it is important for me to keep reading the boards ;) But yeah, like some of you said I don't read/post nearly as much as I do when I am planning :(

Yes, I DIS all the time. Even when there isn't a trip planned, it's nice to be kept up on the latest news.

I haven't been to WDW since 1999 (poor, pitiful me) and I listen to the podcast and read the boards religiously.

It lightens my days and makes my 1 hour + commute into NYC (and back) much easier.

Thank you technology gods, for creating iPods!

Yes - I DIS all the time !! It is a "feel good" pastime and is great therapy. If I don't have a trip being planned, that must mean that I had just come back from a trip not too long ago. So that means that I am probably able to help other people out with their trips.

And when I listen to the podcast, not only do they give me lots of laughs, but I feel like I'm talking with dear friends.

It's all good !!

I was listening to an old podcast this morning and Pete said something along the lines of 'there are only 2 states of being: either I'm planning a trip to WDW, or I'm on one.' Even if I don't have specific dates picked out, in the back of my mind, I am always planning the next trip to the World, so I DIS all the time. :)

We always have a vacation booked and always one or two in the planning stage (thanks to my wife). The DIS is a great way to be in partial vacation mode all the time.

::yes:: exactly.

i started DISing for my now-postponed-indefinitely trip (:sad1:), but even with no set dates on the horizon, i just like being on the boards, listening to the podcasts, and generally being involved in the World.

Absolutely! Like someone said earlier...I may not be planning a trip...but everyone I know here asks me just about every week - "What do you think of "oOo" at WDW or DL"

I don't listen to the podcasts as religiously as I do when I'm planning my own trip....but then the podcast gang throws in a trip to Australia...& I'm hooked AGAIN & have to listen just in case there's a tidbit !

I have been a podcast listener almost from the beginning, and wouldn't miss one, trip or no trip! I'm on the boards less frequently, but it's still fun to check in - keeps the Disney magic alive! For me it's not as much about trip planning as it is about staying in touch with something that brings me enjoyment. And PCC 1.0, DAP, PCC 2.0 have all brought me in touch with fellow DISer's in real life, which is really, really cool!

I listen to the podcast and DIS whether I have a trip planned or not - although I always have a trip in the works. :rolleyes1 If I didn't DIS I would miss my friends.

(Don't you love how DIS is now a verb.) :rotfl2::thumbsup2

I don't know if I'm qualified to answer this question since I always have a trip coming up. :cool1: But I won't let that stop me from answering. :goodvibes

I DIS because I like the people and the subject. For me its fun to chat with the folks and to pass along my experience, as well as to learn from other people's experience. :surfweb:
