Do you decorate your DVC villas?

I have seen a lot of posts about owner's locker and other post about taking items down, and some about decorating the unit you are staying in for the holidays.

I am wondering, since it is like having a vacation home, how many people have items they sit out in their villa when they stay? Do you have pictures or other items that you use to personalize your stay?

We plan on taking a small (table top) pre-lit, pre-decorated Christmas tree, some little Santas we have plus some other decorations. This will be our first time at Disney over Christmas and it will be interesting to see how we like being away from home then. Our two kids are grown (and unmarried) and will be going with us. One thing we have decided is we will not be decorating our home as much as we usually do, since we won't be there over Christmas. In fact, we've decided not to put up a tree this year. Just put out our Santa collection and some other decorations, but no tree. I think our kids (DD29 and DS33) are more sentimental about this than DW and myself. Personally I'm looking forward to not having to mess with a tree this year.

We have also taken a table-top pre-lit tree several times. Last year we also ran white lights around the railing of our OKW unit.

Last Christmas we signed up for a "Tree Swap" here on the DIS Boards. DW took care of all the details, but essentially the tree was a travelling tree. It was waiting for us at Bell Services with our name on it. It was wonderful. It was a 4 ft tree and came complete with all the decorations and lights. After our week in the World, we packed it all up, put the next name on the list on the box, and turned it in to Bell Services.

We also brought lights to string on our balcony railing, along with a few other small Christmas items. It was all great!

Don't miss, if you can, to visit ALL of the resort lobbies. We took an entire day to visit them all - Specatular! Of course, the VWL is magnificent, but each resort had its highlights! The Grand Floridian was especially "grand" with the live music, coral groups, and the Gingerbread house (the size of a house!)

Each DVC resort was extra special with the Christmas decorations and that wonderful Welcome Home ! :santa:

Have a great time in the World at Christmas.:wave2:

We also participate in the Tree Swap organized by a wonderful Diser each year.

Last year, We stayed at AKV Concierge and we hung stockings, and I took our 6 1/2 ft pull up tree. We also hang a wreath on the door. We stay the entire 2 weeks of Christmas vacation and we dont decorate our home at all because we are not here.

I also have an Owners Locker and I enjoy having my personal items in our DVC home.

The only time we decorate is during the Thanksgiving-to-New Year period and then we only put lights on our balcony. Other than that we don't put any personal items around. I figure that we're only there for a week or two and anything I put out I have to take down so it isn't worth it for me.

We do at Christmastime. I did the Christmas Tree Swap organized by the wonderful wdwstar last year so we had a tree for the first time and are getting another this year too. We always did lights on the balcony so that when we returned from the parks we could look up and say oh that's our room. Some people do wrap their doors with Christmas paper and a wreath but we haven't gone that far yet. Happy Decorating. :santa:

We're bringing lights, and window clings for our room at ASSp in December. Last Christmas we stayed at Windsor Hills, and thanks to SWA I had a whole trunk of Christmas gear -- including a small light up tree.

This was our decoration at OKW for Christmas 2006. We also draped lights around the balcony railings. We packed everything in a rolling duffle bag. The tree is a crazy circular thing that folds down flat to about two inches high and I just bent it a little to get it in the bag. We don't however do any decorating for other stays.

We bring a 4 foot prelit tree and lights for the window as well as window clings for our Christmas trip. On our 4th of July trip we bring flags and lights for our railing as well.:thumbsup2

Great Pic!:thumbsup2 We have the pull-up tree too! Love it! We are taking ours to HHI this Christmas.:santa:

We have framed pics of our grandkids and of our kids in our Owners Locker, that we always set out in our villa. We also participate in the Christmas tree swap; it's really fun to have a tree for our December trips.

We were in Disney 3 years ago over T-giving weekend but didn't bring any decorations. This year I bought a 3ft. tree from Wal-mart, lights and some inexpensive ornaments to take with us. I am planning on surprising my family and decorating after everyone is asleep. I am also bringing windo clings, extra lights and a few extension cords to decorate our villa. I found some x-tra large stockings at Wal-mart and will fill them with wrapped gifts:small toys, candy,t-shirts and what ever I find the first day we are in Disney because I am expecting a visit from St. Mick:santa: St. Nick will come to our house after we come home from Disney.

My kids have no clue we are going to Disney next week. We will wake them up with a T-giving morning surprise and say "WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY!" :santa:  :santa:

We ship the tree down a few days before we leave home. Never had a problem. We put up lighted garland inside the villa and also on the balcony. :goodvibes

We also take pictures down to put out. Makes it feel even more like home. The kids take their stuffed animals and will put them out on the beds or shelves.:wizard:

We decorated our balcony last month for Halloween at the BWV. It must have been Disney approved because the one manager working there was walking out of the boardwalk store when we were walking around the front and he asked my son and two nephews if they saw the huge spider above the shop. My son kept saying "That's my spider!"

We're going back the week after Thanskgiving and we've got a lot of new stuff to put out for Christmas.

I would love to find a pull-up tree for our upcoming Christmas trip. Does anybody have any suggestions on where to purchase one? Thanks for your help!!

We always decorate when DH and I are there for Christmas. We bring a 4 ft christmas tree, lights for the balcony, christmas napkins, plates and cups even a Christmas dish cloth and other little christmas decorations for around our unit. We will have an owner's locker begining with our next trip and I will leave family pictures, a small dish by the sink for my jewelry and a collapsible hamper!

A Christmas tree swap - now THAT is truly brilliant! Makes me wish that I was going for Christmas. I will need to remember this for next year...
