Do you consider snapping your fingers at someone rude

Too funny about snapping fingers at our kids!

That would make a really incitefull reality show... cameras in peoples homes, catching all the rude things that we resort to with our kids that we would NEVER dare do to anyone else, or do in public!!!!!

:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

When I first read the thread title I thought, now why would I snap my fingers at someone who is being rude?

That one had me literally laughing outloud !!

And yes, snapping fingers at people (both rude people and polite people) is unacceptable in my book.

As a kid if I wandered to far in public, my Mom would snap her fingers and I would know that I should turn around and go back.....

Well, like Pavlov's dog.....even to this day (32 yo) if I am in a store and someone snaps, I turn to look....and if I am with my Mom I look for her to see what she wants.....we have had many a laugh at how she warped me....especially since nowadays it typically isnt her snapping its someone else!

I did too BWVDenise. :o

in order to get their attention ?
It has been proven that loud sudden noises get all animals attentions YES HUMANS ARE ANIMALS WE BELONG TO KINGDOM ANIMALIA so snapping at someone isnt rude by any means people are just way to sensitive and wont accept that it isnt demeaning or rude but instead is a 100 percent certain way to get someones attention who refuses to pay attention to you

You can be assured if you snap your fingers at me, I'll continue to ignore you. :lmao:

Interesting first post- bumping a 12 year old thread.

But I will bite (pun intended since we are animalia):

Many animals, including homosapiens, have defined social norms. Snapping fingers at another homosapien is indeed considered rude.

Yes that is true but I do not understand. It makes no sense that a simple action such as snapping should offend someone.

Zombie time!!!! :crazy2:

My first thread here, Pickles had something to do with how was All Star Music for preteens..............to answer that now; it was great!!!! :)

I rest my case just my opinion on the topic

I am not saying that anyone is wrong well I am for some but everyone has their opinion on the matter and so do I and if the snapping offends you then thats just you everyone has their own personality as an individual.

Picking your nose at the table and scratching your crotch in public are also simple actions. But I guarantee that neither of these are done by anyone who wishes to be considered anything other than rude. It's a matter of context. Do whatever you want ( as long as its legal) in private. But moderate yourself in public or accept the judgement of those around you.

Snapping your fingers at anyone is demeaning, reducing them to the level of an animal that you command to come at your beck and call. And that is offensive.

Uh-oh.....I sometimes snap my fingers at my co-worker to discreetly get her attention without letting everyone in the office know I'm trying to do so (she and I share an office, but our bosses have their own offices, and often the doors are open). :o I don't know what else I could do to get her attention quietly, other than throw something at her, which seems worse?

DH, and I do this when our Dgs(8) is in earshot, and we want to then mouth words he can not see. It has worked like a charm for us since he developed a younger child's vocabulary, and could understand our conversations involving him, and spelling wasn't working any longer. :D

Also, we do this with our retriever too he understands way too much, and knows some words when we spell.
