Do You Consider Disney Transport When You Choose You're Home Resort?

Yes, but honestly I don't mind the buses that much so when I bought at AKV I wasn't too concerned. What was the most important to me was whether I would be happy at the resort, the price per point, and the availability of studios.

I think its worth considering, but I’m not sure I would make it a deal breaker either way. I think the resort overall and the experience it offers is more important than the transportation. But then, I don’t mind the Disney busses. I kind of like riding in them, unless its park closing when the lines are long and the busses are standing room only.
Exactly this. I think most important is the overall resort experience. Even if you have to take a bus, it's not like it takes a super long time. For us, we chose BCV because we love the resort...and it is walking distance to Epcot and HS. But we will have to take a bus for AK. We don't mind at all. It's more about being where you want to be and the sort of resort experience you are looking for.

When we bought our DVC contract we shopped for resale contracts that were the best deal as well at resorts that we found the most appealing. At the time transportation was not a big consideration because we were not making annual trips like we have with DVC ownership. We settled on AKL because of the lower price and the unique aspects of the savannahs. However, after about 5yrs of ownership and personal experience I think transportation would be more of a focus if we were to add on. Waiting for buses after the park closes or on big days like NYE frequently turned into drags. We would much rather have the option to walk (even if a long one), boat, or skyline to get us back to our room sooner (even if it only felt faster) and with less stress is much more appealing. I think with that in mind we would find GF most appealing (with the new walk way) MK resort and RIV, BW, BC the most appealing for Epcot/HS resorts.

Absolutely, yes. I hate the busses and don't exactly love the monorail. Boats are acceptable and 2nd place to walking IMO. (Not interested in the skyliner due to a family members anxiety in riding them... we tried, it was a big fail.)

Staying at Boardwalk and experiencing the walk to park convenience for ourselves was life-changing! (only exagerating a little....it definitely changed the entire vacation experience for us for the better)

We want to try all resorts and there may be special circumstances / occasions that draw us elsewhere, but no matter the theming, the walk-to-park access beats all else.

We own BWV and are very interested in owning BLT despite the theming not appealing to us. Interestingly, we are also not opposed to SSR because we find the walk to DS equally enjoyable. We find DS a nice after park activity. However, we would want our own car while staying there and it would definitely mean less park time overall. So, we are likely to end up with SSR as a 2nd home resort for split stays, low park visits, and SAP.

In order of most desireable to less ideal (but not undesireable), the list of resorts my family is interested in is as follows:

BWV
BCV (only #2 because it's not our home resort, we don't do pools, and BWV is more in the middle of the 2 parks)
BLT
SSR
CCV/BRV
POLY
OKW

Nobody but me is interesed in VGF at all, and it's too point expensive to force it.

Nobody but me is interested in AKV, but I may drag the hubs there at some point. I won't force the kids.

I can tell DH would be interested in RIV, but it's a bus-only-resort for us and a lot of points, so....nah. Maybe try if just a weekend trip with DH.

I predict that Poly could potentially move up on the list after we actually stay there if the walk to MK is tolerable. I do think the point cost is high, but I'm not opposed to studios and like that you can (very very likely) get connecting studios should you need more space.

Sometimes...Epcot resorts are important to me for Christmas and Flower and Garden times.

However I do think the resort experience is important too. That’s why I have so many home resorts. :rotfl:
