Do you close the bathroom door...

Well I only use our master bathroom when I'm home. I just crack it no matter who's home(of the people who live here...if someone else is here, of course I close the door. The bathroom is kind of down a hall(closet on one side vanity on the other), still in our bedroom but kind of in its own space so even if someone is in the room, they wouldn't be able to see into the toilet area.

We have one dog that has to have the door open when someone is in the bathroom. He will nudge the door with his head to see if it's open...if it's not he sits outside the door whimpering. Mostly with DD and her bathroom if the door is cracked, he'll peak his head in, she says his name and then just keep walking down the hall. I think he thinks it's a game now. :lmao:

Yes, mostly out of habit I guess. It’s weird because if I’m in my bedroom and the door is closed I don’t close my bathroom door. I guess I figure one layer of door protection is enough lol

 Seriously? Why?

I close it when I'm home alone or alone in a hotel room - force of habit I guess. I don't lock it though; I'm not a fanatic. ;)

Because I like to ying when others yang. I am buying when others are selling. Because people who follow conventional wisdom often don't have any.

No, because I have two ragdoll cats who will spend the whole time crying at the door and sticking their paws under it. Bathroom time is a group event in their minds.
:goodvibes I remember watching my little son's chubby fingers sneaking in under the door...he learned to cope with the separation - maybe your cats could too. :cat:

Yes, I always close the door out of habit. Our upstairs bathroom doesn't have a lock, so a closed door means somebody's in there. If someone comes home and walks in on me anyway I just yell "Surprise!"

I like to close the door and lock it when people are home if I'm downstairs, although the almost two-year-old thinks it's his solemn duty to escort everyone to the bathroom and then stand in there going, "pee-pee! Peepeeeeee!" at the top of his voice.

Sometimes. Mostly it’s just not latched. Rarely wide open.

Agree with the bedroom door being closed is enough.

Also relate to the chore of cleaning 4 toilets but I’ve got 3. My parents have 5.

Edit: come to think of it, I don’t prefer to have any interior doors closed except for closets.

Nope....unless I’m in the shower and I want the heat/steam to stay in the bathroom.

In our house, we all close and lock the door for #2. Rarely for #1, especially if the kids are upstairs. Our downstairs bathroom is in the foyer/hallway and the door faces a wall and there are no sightlines into the bathroom from any other room, so it's pointless to close the door for a quick #1.

The kids upstairs bathroom is laid out in such a way that if you are at the toilet, no one can see you from outside the bathroom. And our master bathroom has a door from the main bedroom and the another door to the toilet room.

Does not wanting somebody to watch you poop make one a sheeple?

I was going to post the same as the previous poster (that I don’t close the door even when people are home), but seeing your response perhaps that needs clarification on when.

I do not close any door for pee. Our family is fairly casual and has what my oldest deemed “a lax policy on nudity” when she went off to college. I’m typically downstairs by myself all day since I work from home and the baths are situated where the toilets are not in direct view even if one of the kids was around so we just don’t think it’s a big deal.

However, I will close the door to poop, but also only use my master bathroom for that anyway since it’s more private and has a bidet.

In our last house I did not shut the door because the toilet was in one of those tiny toilet rooms around a corner in the master bath. If I heard someone coming I would shut the door but otherwise I didn’t like to be closed in that tiny closet-like space.
