Do you check your shoes for bugs before you put them on?

I don't know exactly why I thought of this :rotfl: , but was wondering who checks their shoes for insects and spiders before putting them on?

The only time that I do is if I haven't worn the shoes in a long time or my shoes were muddy and were left in the garage. It might also matter where a person lives. I remember years ago in Texas a friend of mine having a palmetto bug in some article of clothing she was putting on (I think it was a sweater, but maybe a shoe--don't remember the details, but do remember the type of bug and those suckers are big!).

I typically don't unless, like you said have been in the garage, etc. BUT, you remind me of a vivid memory from my childhood....all my winter boots were stored in the basement, I had nice ones w/soft fur lining. So I was about 8, and was getting my boots on ready to go out, we were all in the kitchen. I put my foot in one, and there was something there, I assumed it was a sock that had been left in there, so I reached in to grab it, it wouldnt move, but I felt a tail...I dropped it and screamed...there was a mouse in my boot!!! Yuck!! My dad had to try to get it out, and out of the house. Anyway, I do check my boots still.

Yes, but I live in south Texas. The last thing I want is a scorpian in my shoe. That's how my best friend got stung. I've had them in laundry piles.

No--but we have a bug guy that pretty much ensures that I don't have to worry about critters living in my shoes.

I never used to but now that we are in FL I check all the time!!

I keep my sneakers in the garage sometimes and our garage has a couple lizards (or geckos, I don't know the difference!!) in it so I am always checking!! I can not imagine what I would do if I put on my sneaker and there was a lizard in it!!

Absolutely. I also pull the covers down on the bed just to make sure there's nothing in there.

Ever since I moved to Florida, I check my shoes for any critters every time I go to put them on.

Only if they've been in the garage for a while.

My Mum found a scorpion in her shoe once. :faint: She was living in India at the time, and after that, always checked her shoes!

Not if they are in the house, but I do have to check them for neon orange mice LOL.

You've got our mice! Freaky looking little critters, aren't they?!

LOL, yes they are! Kipper used to have some other colors (pink, blue and green) but they are under the washer and dryer so all that is left is the orange ones. He throws them down our stairs and they always seem to land in my shoes.

Me too!! There was a wasp in my bed 1 time!!! Since then I check everynight!!

Never di till a couple of years ago. We keep our shoes in the garage and one day I was in a hurry to go somewhere. I slid my foot into my topsiders and I felt something in the shoe. I took off the shoe and picked it up to shake whatever was in it out. I wasn't really thinking about what it was. Well out fell a spider whose body was about as big as the old silver dollars. Add to that head, and legs and you got one huge spider. Since then I always give them a shake before putting them on.

I do. When I was a child, I put on my shoe and could feel something wiggling at my toes. When I took off the shoe, a wolf spider the size of a child's hand came crawling out. It's been about 30 years, but I can't shake the fear that it will happen again.

I've never thought about checking for bugs, but once I put my shoes on and felt something wet and squishy inside - cat vomit!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

This is too funny--I don't know why cat vomit is cracking me up like this, especially since I've stepped in it before.

I forgot, my DD did find mouse poop in her shoe that was in the garage recently. But yes, a mouse would be even worse. OMG, a gigantic spider would scare the bejeebers out of me.

I think I could deal with an orange mouse. Why is it that cats like to put toys in shoes? Our current cats don't so much, but our old cats used to.

Monkeyboy, your underwear? I don't think that I want to ask, but I will anyway. Whitey tighties or boxers??? :teeth:

Scorpion? :faint:

I like lizards, but would still jump if one was in my shoe.

I don't check my bed, but maybe I should since I've gotten enough bites in bed before.

I am going to have nightmares tonight!

So I'm not the only one here with a cat that likes to scare their owners by putting those toy mice in shoes! I almost had a heart attack the first time my cat did this. I'm afraid that one day I may reach in to pull out a stuffed mouse and actually find something else. That's a scary thought....
