Do you change clothes after dinner?

Just wondering what most people wear to the clubs and adult shows after dinner? Really trying to follow the "pack less" tip, and wondering if we can go change back into our casual clothes after dinner. If we're going to be dancing and getting smokey in the clubs I don't want to be "recycling" those clothes for another evening. So just curious about what others typically wear dancing, or to the shows?

We've done both. Most nights we keep on what we went to dinner in. On a few formal nights I just couldn't wait to get out of panty hose (I don't have good enough legs to do without in a nice dress) so we've changed into something a little less formal.

On our May cruise there was a lunar eclipse on formal or semi-formal (can't remember which comes first but it was the later one)night that we wanted to watch from up on deck. So we changed out of our formal clothes, DH went to the internet cafe (to DIS), while I did some packing. We met up on deck and relaxed while watching the lunar eclipse. It was one of the best nights of our cruise!

Dh could not wait to get out of his suit after dinner and went to change right away... then we had a picture taken with Minnie in her formal gown.... Needless to say it was pretty silly looking with me in a more formal dress, him in his shorts and t-shirt and Minnie in her beautiful gown!

;)

I suppose that if you had earlier dining, going back to change would be okay, because the clubs haven't opened yet.

With late dining though, we just went from dinner to the clubs mostly and stayed in our nice clothes until we retired to the stateroom for the night. It appeared most of the late crowd did this too; I didn't see too many people in shorts and t-shirts doing the hustle on 70s night!

I don't think we had a problem with the "smokiness" although we brought some febreze; perhaps that helped.

In the end, cruises are about what makes you happy - there are very few expectations. We dress for dinner, and stay in that outfit throughout the night. We don't overdo the attire - my Dh wears ties/jackets for work anyway - not a big deal for him.....Don't stress too much about it!!! The first few cruises we really overpacked - but, you'll find things are really casual. Our closest friend is a mechanic - down-to-earth kind of guy (like most of us!) - still afraid to cruise because he doesn't like to "dress-up" - give me a break!!! - I'm working on getting him onboard, I know he'll love it!!! Do what makes you happy!!

For formal night we decided after dinner & getting our picture taken with Mickey & Minnie to go change before heading to a movie with the kids. We changed into jeans & they got in their PJs. That's the only night we changed though.

since we were dressed resort casual for dinner, there was no need to change afterwards....
my 15 year old son (at the time), who wore nice cargo pants and a polo shirt to dinner, did race back to the stateroom to change back to his t-shirt and shorts....

when my family had early dinner seating we almost always changed afterwards. When we had late, we usually didn't change.

I stayed in my dresses...I dont get to dress up much so it felt good to be girlie!

Are the kids allowed to wear nice shorts to dinner on a regular night, not formal? My DS 11 has a couple pairs that I would allow him to wear to church or a nice family resturant at home with a nice shirt. I could understand that they would not allow it just because it could get carried away, but if he could he would be easier to pack for! Otherwise I think we might get some of those zip off leg ones they might work out pretty easily.:teeth:

We split down the middle. I stay dressed up, my husband goes totally casual. Yes, others may think we look foolish with me in my gowns, sweetie in his shorts, but, we could care less. As long as we are both comfortable, we are happy.

Question, though, I do believe there is NO SMOKING in the clubs and lounges, RIGHT? I hope that's the case. First poster mentioned getting smokey clothes (which I detest the next morning!) and I was just wondering. I too would then change back into something I can stuff into a garbage bag for the rest of the trip if that were the case.

There is smoking in the clubs. Bring your inhaler if you have asthma.
We usually stay in our casual clothes for the show, dress for dinner and then get casual again for the clubs or walks on the deck.
