I am leaving for Disney in just 2 days.

I'm just wondering how everyone else carries their cameras? Do you always have it out and ready (like on a strap around your wrist or neck) Or do you always have it in it's camera bag and then when you want to take a pic, you have to take it out of the bag and then fiddle with it until you take your picture?

I just got a new camera with a new memory card that can hold A LOT of pictures so I plan on taking A LOT of pictures. LOL I even already have a list of all the scrapbook pages that I would like to do, have already bought everything that I need to complete these pages, now I just need the pictures.

Anyhow, I want to have my camera out and ready at a moments notice so I don't miss anything. I was thinking of getting some kind of strap to hook the camera to so I can hang it around my neck or something. I really don't want to have it in the bag all the time and keep having to take it out each and everytime I want to take a picture.

What do all of you do?

i ALWAYS have mine out and handy!!! i think it would take way too much time getting it in and out of the bag. i think i'm going to wait until we get there and buy a mickey strap to hold it around my neck. last time i carried it in my hand, but i like to be hands free !

I definitely carry mine all the time. I carry a backpack with my camera case inside it so if I need to put it away for a ride it's cushioned in its case, but except for that it's usually on my shoulder or around my neck. (It came with a really sturdy strap.)

One thing I noticed after my most recent trip. I tended to leave it on my neck more than my shoulder, and it's a fairly heavy camera. By the very last day at the airport coming home my neck and shoulders hurt so badly I could barely hold my backpack. Luckily that wasn't until the last day! Next time I'll be more careful to mix it up.

Always have mine! I take pictures of everything and anything

I always have my camera with me (either at home or at Disney - you just never know!). My camera is a small one, so I keep it in my waist pouch or my pocket. The year I took my bigger one, I kept it in the stroller unless we were going onto a ride and then I put it in my bag. Didn't like that set up quite as much. Good luck and have fun! Wish I was going too! :)

Always have my camera in my purse whether I am on vacation or not, you never know when that memorial picture will pop up.:thumbsup2

Yep, me too! :thumbsup2

I will carry it around my neck unless we are on comando ride time. Then it's easily to get out of my waist pack/backpack. Since my kids are getting older they will want to ride rides multiple times in a row so I will ride a couple of times and then go off to take pictures while they keep going.

Mine is small enough to fit comfortable in my pocket, which is normally where it is. I put the camera bag in my sister's purse in case there is a ride where it would be safer in there than my pocket. I'm afraid of dropping it which is why I don't like to carry it around on my wrist.

A slightly funny story: when we went to Gettysburg in 2006 my sister climbed up the tallest observation tower (8 flights of stairs!) and was holding the camera out passed the railing without the strap around her wrist. I was holding my breathe the entire time, expecting to hear a scream as the camera plummeted to the earth. Luckily both her and the camera made it safely down, but I scolded her and told her never to do it again. Dropping my camera is my #1 fear.

Dropping my camera is my #1 fear.

My husband dropped one from a cruise ship.:scared1: :scared1: He is not allowed to touch my newest camera, he always gets the hand me down one.

I carry my camera in my pocketbook every day no matter where I am. I know I take way to many pictures but I love not missing one thing me kids do. Some day when my kids say you never did anything fun with us, I will have the pictures to prove we did fun things.

My camera is with me everywhere I go regardless where we are or where we are going. With always having my camera I have captioned some great rainbow pictures.

I carry my camera everywhere with me...at Disney, and at home. And it has become a bit more of a challenge, since I moved up from a small point-and-shoot, to a larger camera. But I got a small camera bag, that doesn't look too boxy, and use it as my purse.

My kids think I'm weird, but I'm really getting into photography, and I want to have my camera at all times. Otherwise, I'm sure I'll miss 'that great shot!':lmao:

I passed the strap of my bum bag (AKA fanny pack - we couldn't use that over here:rotfl2: )through the strap on the back of the camera case, and for good measure also wrapped the neck strap around the waist strap (in case the velcro came undone on a rough ride). That way I could just unzip the pouch and yank it out when I needed it. Its a small, high-pixel digital so it didn't get in the way - you just have to fiddle around a bit on rides with waist bars.

some cell phones have quite high pixel cameras incorporated now, as an alternative if you usually use a bigger camera.

I have mine all the time as well. for example dd danced in a st. patrick's day parade several years ago and we went into target because it was a 2 story one and had a "cart olater"... yup I have pictures of her putting the cart on the thing, the cart going up, etc.... dd is always terribly embarrassed when I whip out the camera. :) maggie

I always carry a camera everywhere all the time-- its always in my purse or pocket. At Disney, I (now) carry two. I have one that I always have out (around my neck) and another that I have in my camera bag.

and that's the reason I NOW carry two!!! upon our entrance to the Disney Wonder in March, I turned to DH and asked him to take a picture and..... three pictures into the trip, it was laying on the marble floor!!! no pics the rest of the trip!!! I didn't bring our "back up" camera because I had my nice new point and shoot camera.... and DH gets out of having to take pictures.

I just got a new camera with a new memory card that can hold A LOT of pictures so I plan on taking A LOT of pictures.

please be very careful when putting lots of pics on one card as I remember reading about a lady who's camera was lost/stolen (sorry, can't remember exact details) with entire family vacation on, with over 600 shots. I now tend to buy several smaller cards and try to limit the no of shots to approx 100 and that way I'd not lose out too bad should something awful happen. Not sure how much memory cards are over there, but here in the UK we can get 512mb SD cards for $7 which is the price we used to pay for a 36 exposure 35mm film but holds so many more pics!

I also always have a camera with me 24/7! When in a park, it's usually around my wrist but goes into it's bag inside my purse for the rides.
When we go on vacation, I always take 3 camera's (I know - I'm an excessive camera freak!) but I have this awful nightmare of not taking photo's should anything happen to my camera. They do all have slightly different features tho', for instance I have one that zooms in 420mm which is great for the safari at AK, then I have a great little one with a 23mm ultra wide lens which is great for capturing the 'whole picture' and finally my 7.2 mp which is great for posed shots that I know I'm gonna want blowing up.

I always have mine out and ready to use! I am always on the look out for those 'perfect' shots! LOL I love taking pictures of everything, so Disney is a "must have, ready to go" thing with me! :)
