Do you Carry Food with you to Eat on Plane

I always pack a few granola bars and some sort of candy, like M&M's for snacking.

Sometimes. It also depends on if we have a layover, how long it is and where it is.

We usually just bring a few snacks for the kids. The airport here as decent restaurants and it worked out pretty well last time we flew to just eat there, since you have to be there so early we had plenty of time to go to a sit down restaurant while we waited for our flight.

My parents are flying here Monday and have 3 stops and a long layover. I've recommended they bring some food with them.

I always do, and I carry water too. I used to carry Dr. Pepper but I don't drink soft drinks anymore, that should lighten my carryon a bit :teeth:

Snacks and water when flying because once you are on a plane, you never know how long you're going to be there.:(

I bring low carb snacks and water because if I plan to eat on a layover - invariably there is a delay on the first leg and we are so tight on time for the second connection - that it just does NOT work out. Something always seems to mess up the schedule or the options are horrible... so having a back up is just a good idea. I usually bring a zip lock bag with 1 ounce of almonds, a pepperoni stick or string cheese, and bottled water.

Always bring a bottle of water with... but that's usually it. Of course, I fly a lot and 95% of the time am upgraded to 1st class, where they feed ya pretty decent.

On morning flights, I bring bagels & water. I can't eat breakfast the morning of a flight - too nervous. So, once my tummy settles down... I can eat.

Other flights, just granola bars & water.

I'm always too nerous and anxious to think about packing/bringing food.

The woman next to me on the flight to Orlando in January had a ham that she was picking off the bone, strips of green peppers, and a Bloody Mary. Then she brought out this plastic container of figs, almonds and other dried fruits. I thought I was going to be sick!

 eeewwww, I WOULD have been sick.
I keep it to "bread & water" type foods. LOL Nothing with a smell to it either --- for the sake of others in confined places.

Is it still okay to travel with food? I thought I remembered after the first of the year when the new bomb devices were installed food would sometimes register a bomb.
I'm very interested in this because we will have a 15-20 hour flight coming up and I would love to pack alot of food
plus we will be in a third world county for 3 weeks
(I could call the airline but I haven't gotten the travel arrangements to whcih airline yet could be a few more months)
If foods okay, I'm going to pack granola bars, cookies, cheese and peanut butter crackers, would love to pack dried cherries (if allowed... figured this could be a problem) not sure what else yet...
I'm reading all the messages for further ideas! :D

You can bring food and I recommend it. If you are on a flight that the airline feeds you on, I am not sure that stuff passes for food. Even the first class food is wierd.

For overseas flights, no fruits or veggies can be imported into the US or usually the country you are traveling to.

The bomb thing has a hard time seeing thur food so the TSA is more likely to open your luggage. Just put it in the carryon.

Yes and so glad I did after sitting on the runway for five hours this summer waiting for the East Coast to open up. Thunderstorms the like of which don't happen often around here.

We got on the plane at 3:30 and didn't take off until 9:00. We were HUNGRY!
