Do you carry a full size tablet with you regularly?

I have a $500 gift card to Apple.

I cannot make up my mind. I plan to add my own $$ in there to get more memory and a good case, but I really can't decide on a 7" or a 10".

7" seems a bit small for my old eyes when it comes to several things, but the 10" seems quite large to be carrying around on a regular basis (which I plan to do.)

ARGH! I got this gift card for Christmas but just can't make up my mind!

I have a 10in. that I carry to work. I love having the bigger screen. Just think its only 3" bigger which is not a huge difference.

We have both at home. We got the bigger one for a gift, then I got the Mini for Mother's day. I love the smaller one, I can throw it in my purse to take anywhere easily. The bigger one is that much more awkward to handle (for things like reading books or taking pictures) and requires taking a different bag to put it in, so i don't consider it very portable.

You can re-size the screen easily and change light levels too, so the little one works great for me!

Happy shopping!

Well, that is what I am thinking……the 7" fits in all my purses, the 10" fits in none of my current purses.

Taking it to work is one thing……where taking it with me regularly is another.

HOWEVER, I am worried that the 7" won't get used as much at home because I do prefer the larger screen normally.

Why is this so hard?

My DH and I both have the 10 in. I have had mine since the 1st generation and upgraded to include AT & T service that I love! I take mine everywhere. Sometimes in my purse or sometimes I just carry it, depending where we are going. DS6 has the Mini that he loves and takes with him everywhere but school. It is so convenient around the house just to move it room to room with me.

I've been an iPad owner since the iPad 2 came out, but I bought a Mini the day it came out and never looked back. (I used to work at an Apple store, lol.) It's lighter to carry, easier to hold in one hand, I can read on the train and still hold a handrail so I don't fall over. The smaller screen really only affects how I read comics on it.

My full-size iPad now lives on a mounting arm attached to my desk as a second screen for my desktop computer. :lmao:

I have an iPad mini - I LOVE this size and the fact it's portable. There are times that the text (and links!) are small, but I can make them bigger with swipe of my finger. It fits in my purse, it fits in my hands easily. I would not get a larger one if it broke, I'd replace it with a mini again. LOVE it.

I had an ipad 1st gen and rarely used it because I thought it was too heavy to hold. I traded for an ipad mini back when target did the trade-in deal and use it all the time. I'm older and have arthritis and its much easier to hold and use for me. My eyes aren't that great either, but I have never found it to be an issue. I don't carry it with me because with my kindle and iphone, I found it to be over kill!

I have a iPad 2 and an iPhone. I REALLY REALLY want an iPad mini. The iPad is just not very portable and my iPhone is too small. I rarely bring my iPad anywhere and when I do I get annoyed because I cannot slip it into a bag easily. My vote between the two would be the mini.

I've had an iPad first gen that we upgraded to a mini. Also have an iPad 2. While I have loved them all, the mini is great for carrying in my purse. We even dragged it all over Disney World for pictures--something we couldn't really do with the iPad 2 due to size and weight.

Well, I had a Nook ( first generation) but was gifted the new Ipad Air for my birthday. I have a Macbook, so it is nice to have as a more portable device. But, with some birthday money and with the Black Friday sale I bought a Nook HD. I much prefer that size for reading, and the HD is amazing.
So- do you have any other Apple products? Would you use it mostly for reading ( holding it in your hand) or writing/typing? For reading, the mini. For typing or Netflix, the larger one, as the keyboard/screen is bigger. To me, throwing either in my bag is fine. The Air is quite thin and light even with a case….

I guess the question to ask yourself is how much do you go out? Maybe get a little larger purse, if you able to carry one. I use backpack's due to purses pull on my shoulder. I am sure you will get what you want that is perfect.

Or how much do you really need it when you go out. IMO a 10" isn't portable at all, depends on what you normally carry as a purse. My chiropracter told me years ago to downsize the purse to help with the shoulder and neck and neck pain, so I did. If you go out for a few hrs you really wouldn't need it anyway. I love the 10" tablet we have, I seldom use my Nook at all. If I am going somewhere where I will be waiting for hours I take a paperback in my purse.

I like the Mini so much better. It is easier to hold and easier to take along. Typing on it is also easier IMO.

I basically stopped using my 10in tablet when I finally got a new phone. The tablet was cumbersome to carry around. The smaller ones look like they are easier if you plan on bringing it out and about.

Well, it depends on what you're using it for. I have a Mini for work, but it is horrible for grading papers on. I wish I had a full sized iPad for that purpose. (our school district went all electronic so the students have iPads, the teachers have a Macbook Airs and iPad Minis). For reading, browsing FB and Dis, the mini is fine. I watch Netflix on it in the kitchen when I'm cooking or cleaning.

I prefer my laptop for anything that requires typing. I guess I'm old school in that regard. My mom insisted I take typing classes in high school, so I am a REALLY fast typer and get frustrated with the lack of a keyboard on all my touch devices! I can type a message in moments on my laptop but it takes me a lot longer using the touch keyboard on the mini or on my phone.

I have a Nexus7 tablet and I can't imagine carrying around a bigger tablet! I really don't feel that the 10" tablets are very portable. If you plan to stick with Apple, I suggest you get the iPad Mini.

Look into getting a Bluetooth keyboard for your tablet. I just bought one for $20 on Amazon (that was the cheapest I found) and it has changed the way I use my tablet.

I have an original iPad and never carried it around because it was too heavy.

The iPad mini changed my life. It is lightweight, it fits in my purse, I can work on it and do fun stuff on it too. The battery life is great.

I love it.
