Do you cancel your ADRs?

As someone who is hoping to catch a cancellation for an ADR that is booked, I was wondering if most of you cancel ADRs if you change your plans? I am talking about the ones that don't require credit cards.

I always do....I just canceled one yesterday when I changed from H&V to 50s Prime Time. I feel it's the courteous thing to do.

I don't make ADRs very often, but any time I have one that I don't need I cancel it as soon as I know that I don't need it.

I also refrain from making multiple ADRs. I figure I can only eat at one place at a time, so why take up ADRs at multiple places? If I can't make up my mind where to eat, I don't make an ADR until I do make up my mind.

:) Yes, I do. It's just the right thing to do. Just cancelled a WCC the other day to replace it with Crystal Palace.

I always cancel if I know ahead of time but if it is like an hour away I wont cancel.

Yes, I do. I spent about a half hour on the phone with dining the other day rearranging my ADRs and cancelled the ones I didn't need. :thumbsup2

I'd hate to contribute to anyone not getting into a restaurant!

Hopefully most people think like you guys and I might just get lucky and get a cancellation for the ADR I was unable to book. If not we will just have to visit WDW again!

I always cancel. I just cancelled a breakfast and a dinner last week as I finagled my schedule. I think we should only take what we need. Good luck!!

I always cancel as well! I have actually benefitted from someone on the DIS board posting they were cancelling an ADR that I wanted for my family. So I always cancel and if it is a highly coveted ADR, I post here that I am going to cancel.

Absolutely! It would be rude not to cancel. I don't double book meals either.

I always cancel if I find that I am not needing an ADR. I know a lot of people on the boards discuss making multiple ADR's at the same time, and then they just pick the one they want when the time comes. I find that rude, because it prevents others from making an ADR that they know they will use. I think they should keep track of what your ADR's are, and only allow you to have one per meal time. This is just one more thing that people abuse just because they are allowed to (but it still doesn't make it right). I'm sure Disney doesn't care, because it doesn't hurt them one way or another, but it sure is rude to others that are unable to make ADR's because someone else is hording them.

I always cancel them, and I even called on my cell phone to cancel one that we weren't going to make an hour beforehand during our December trip. I hope someone who walked up and asked for a table was able to get it!

I do cancel and I would never double book. I have a hard enough time picking one place to make ressies for, let alone two. :confused3

Me too.

I didn't make more ADRs than I needed for my last trip, but I plan to do it for the trip the first week of October (I'm concerned that with the popularity of the DDP some of the menus might change, so I want to have more than one option available). Once I'm within a week or two of the trip I'll know for sure what I want and then I plan to offer my ADRs on this board. If nobody takes them, I'll cancel.

In the past it was probably no big deal to make ADRs and cancel them. That isn't the case anymore. Cash customers can't even get into the restaurants spontaneously because of the popularity of the DDP. It's very rude to not cancel ADRs when there are so many people who want a table and can't get it.

Plese cancel, if you don't you are hurting fellow diners and the restaurant itself. I would love to see ADR's done away with totally. Some of the busiest restaurants in the world do not take ressies. First come first served should be the rule of thumb. How many times do you get an ADR only to have to wait anyway? No ADR's means no one is dissapointed when they have to wait. It will never happen but a guy can dream.

I always cancel my ADR's. If I can't make it, it's only fair to cancel to help create some pixie dust for other guests.

We ALWAYS cancel and the CM is ALWAYS surprised and thanks us. I think it is very rude not to.

On the positive side, I do not double-book ressies and if we know that we are not going to be in the park that day then I will cancel the night before or that morning on the bus ride.

With that being said, I will be the first to admit that I have no intention whatsoever to pull out my cell phone and cancel if we spontaneously decide to deviate from the schedule. I know we're only talking about one or two minutes, but I am not going to press "1" if I have been to WDW before, then press "2" if I haven't been since 1994, then press..... while strolling with the family in the Magic Kingdom.

Let the flames begin.

Okay, here goes:

You're a horrible person, you're ruing thousands of other peoples' vacations, your momma dresses you funny, and Global Warming is all your fault!

Flame off.

Personally, I don't blame anybody for not cancelling if they decide not to go to a restaurant at the last minute. That kind of thing happens - your day changes due to crowds, weather, health, or mood, and you decide to eat someplace else. Last-minute no-shows like that are actually good for walk-ins like me, because they make tables come available unexpectedly.

If you change your mind a day or two ahead of time, thats different. If you're staying on-site, you can call Disney Dining direct from your room phone to cancel your ADRs, without going through a lot of prompts, and if you are staying off-site you can do it from Guest Relations in any of the parks. Cancelling a day or two ahead of time is good for those who are trying for last-minute ADRs, as opposed to walk-ins.
