Do you call to check Waitlist?

With all the changes to the waitlist proceedures, do any of you still call MS to check on your waitlists. And if so, do you still find that when you do call your waitlists "mysteriously" come through while you are on the phone?

Just wondering if I should call and check on my waitlist at all.

TIA

I hadn't decided if I would be calling to check or not, but, my waitlist request did come through magically such that I was checking something on dvcmembers.com and I noticed that I now had a different resort booked.

I check dvc members site about every 3 days - if it comes through GREAT! if not still HAPPY as we will be at OKW - Waitlisting AKV for dd and nephew - me and DH would probably prefer to stay at OKW;)

I check DVC's website to see if my waitlist cleared. The only time I called Member Services is when the waitlist didn't clear 30 days prior to check in. I called every 3 or so days at that point to see if anything opened up (it never did).

I waitlisted for the first time this year, for one day, as they had availability for the rest of our vacation. Heeding advice here, I checked back about 2 weeks later, only to be told "no availibility". The next day my waitlist came through. I don't know if my request triggered a search, or what, but I'm happy I called-I don't wait well. Gwen

I have been just checking the DVC website....once our trip gets a bit closer, I may call once a week or so just to see. ;)

yes...home resoert was SSR... nothing for June 4,5,6,7,8 when I 1st called only thing available was 1st 3 nights at OKW... and so I waitlisted the rest of my nights... I called today and now theres a gazzillion studio available at SSR :faint:

I checked the web site every few days for my waitlist request to come through. Three months after my originally reservation & waitlisting, I called to made dining reservations and thought I would check on the status of the waitlist. The CM told me I was never put on a waitlist! So I'm really glad I checked. By the way, the waitlist came through a couple of days after she entered it into the system.

The CM told me that I don't need to call (but could check online) as I don't think they want these calls cluttering up member services, and she said a confirmation letter will be sent when/if the request if filled. I can't say whether or not calling into member services would actually help your request get filled, but I do suggest you call back once just to double-check and make sure the waitlist has been set up properly.

I went on a WL for AKV Kidani 1 BR Savannah view 2 months ago ---- it must be the most popular request out there. Nothing has materialized for a Sun and Mon night in May (I have the Sat night) . I check the web site daily and call at least 2X a week. Nothing has mysteriously, magically appeared.

Two weeks ago I decided add on a second WL request for another resort for those three nights (BWV) ...... nothing has magically appeared when I call.

I usually have other questions or requests when I call (an ADR, check availability at other resorts --- since we can now only WL for 2 requests). I specifically reviewed the recent BWV WL request, since the CM I spoke with was having exceptional difficulty understanding. She never did ask me which view or category I wanted to be WL'd for, so I was curious to find out what I might get!

I do not call to check on existing waitlists I just check on line (got my 2 days in a BCV 2br last week), but I do call to see if “pieces” of the waitlists are available (I had actually gotten 1 of the 2 days a couple of weeks before, so I was waiting for 1 day to match that reservation or 2 days in a different booking category) or any “waitlists” that I cannot have MS enter yet because of the limitation of 2 at one time.

Any change I make to a reasrevation, even requests, ME, DDP and waitlists I allways check a few days later to see if they are correct

Don't know if our latest W/L experience is due to the change in W/L policy, or just luck of the draw...

Our planning overlapped the new policy (started in early January; new policy began Feb 1, trip is 3/15)...

I began w/a one-bedroom request at BCV or BWV--no availability; booked OKW and W/L'ed "near HH" and also BCV & BWV...

Within a couple of weeks, I'd gotten all five nights at OKW near HH...

By a week before Feb 1, I'd gotten 4 of my 5 nights at BCV ...

The first week of Feb, I got my last night at BCV...

From the time I got 2 nights at BCV (mid-to-late Jan), I started calling every day (some days twice) to try to get the whole trip at BCV and to add a studio (we started as 3 in a one-bedroom, but within a couple of weeks "grew" to five in a one-bedroom, so we want the extra space)...

Absolutely no movement at BCV or BWV ... I used my 2 w/l's and W/L'ed for a studio for two nights at BCV and 3 at BWV (can't do day-by-day anymore, so had to use both resorts in order to W/L fewer than 5 nights)...called each day to see if just one night (or non-consecutive nights) had opened up. Nothing.

Yesterday was the end of my W/Ls (I'm now fewer than 7 days out)...I shall continue to call to see if something opens up, but I've pretty well given up hope.

Nothing's available on cash at BCI, BWI or Yacht Club for my dates either, not thru MS and not thru CRO...I did book our "spill over space" room at the Dolphin...so we'll be fine and we'll have fun and I think it's somewhat miraculous I was able to get our 1-BR at BCV w/only about 2 months notice, so we think we're lucky despite our inability to get the BCV or BWV studio...

So...as noted, don't know if BCV & BWV are "just full" and the W/L policy had no impact at all, or if the new policy does mean auto W/Ls fill changing space more efficiently/effectively than the old day-by-day multiple W/L process did...

So, that's the long-winded way of saying for us, many daily and twice daily phone calls for over a month resulted in nothing...(but we're still happy about our trip plans)...

On my last trip I called to check availability and the room that I was waitlisted for was available, but it had not been applied to my waitlist. :confused3 Anyway, as soon as she said it was available I had her book it and cancel my waitlist.

IF the Vacation Details section of the website is working I don't ever call. If it's not then I do have to.

I have only not had two waitlists clear. One was for AKV Concerige so......I figured it was going to require a miracle to clear LOL!

I'm still holding 1 night waitlists, March 23rd BWV studio, preferred.....and May
24th Kidani savannah view studio. The first is during spring break and the second is over Memorial weekend, and they both are busy DVC times. Usually, I book way ahead of time...in each case it's for a friend who just couldn't commit early enough.

Is there any way to see the waitlist request on the website? We waitlisted part last year (individual days scattered through a week for a studio). The waitlists came through so quickly I never needed to check.

This year we have 3 days at the beginning of the trip. After reading the previous comment about a waitlist never being made, I'm slightly concerned...
