... if it's only beer and wine?

should i put "buffet and open bar" on the invitation info

or "buffet, beer & wine"

???

thanks!!!!

:)

I think an open bar is when all forms of alcohol is being served. We are only serving wine, and beer and are not calling it an open bar. I'd love to give our guests that option, but it's really expensive. :)

The term open bar does indicate all kinds of alcohol will be served, so if you are only having beer & wine served, you shouldn't call it an open bar.

what if you put "buffet and simple alcoholic beverages' or something to that degree. This way it implies that people should not come expecting any alcohol that they want......

just a suggestion.....maybe simple sounds silly, but I couldn't think of a better word off the top of my head! :confused3

I wouldn't put anything about the menu on the reception card. That can be handled word of mouth, much like your gift registry information. Depending on what time of day it is, most people will just figure it out - lunch, dinner, etc. unless your reception is at an odd time like 2:00pm. I would just put something about "Reception to follow at....." or "Join us to celebrate our happiness...."

I think "buffet, beer, and wine" is fine. IMO.
