This question has probably been asked before, but the search function is not working. We are going "home" in October (just our 2nd DVC trip since becoming members and our 1st trip to OKW) and are not sure if we should purchase the insurance. Does anyone have experience and/or opinions about purchasing or not purchasing it? In the past, we did not purchase travel insurance, but now that we have two small children, I was wondering if we should. Kids seem to always get sick at the most inconvenient times, and I wouldn't want to travel with a sick child. Any input is appreciated!

Never would anyway, but I remember someone doing some research into the insurance offered. It seems that you a lot and can possibly recoup the cost of dues on the points wasted. Sounded like a poor deal.....even if they were allowing you to recoup $10 per point, I wouldn't bother.

We have a liberal cancelation policy, if the change os made more than 31 days out, points are returned un-blemished. Between 2-31 days, you deal with the holding account. Last day, out of luck. I like to gamble, but this seems like a large cost for such little return.

Thanks Rickyams, for reminding me of the cancellation policy. I think it's a liberal enough policy for us to take our chances and not buy the insurance!

Definitely not worth it from a cost vs. benefits standpoint.

I just pulled out the flyer from a reservation I made in January:

Reimbursement is $5 per point.
Premium is the reimbursement by 5%.

Example:

150 points x $5 = $750 reimbursement
$750 x 5% = $37.50 premium (minimum premium is $29).
