Do you break everyday?

Do you take a break everyday while at the world (meaning do you go back to your hotel)? I have a break scheduled for just about everyday while we are there, but I just wonder if we need it.
What do you do while on break?
How much time do you give yourself to get back to the park or to a certain ADR?
Any other tips? :)

My family went last August, we had a 5 year old and a nearly 2 year old with us. Not to mention my dad who has cancer.

So we took a break every day for at least 3 hours. Some of us took naps (me included sometimes, ha ha), sometimes it was to the pool or just relaxing around the resort. Then we headed back to one of the parks in the evening when the sun wasn't so brutal.

It worked out great for us!

I don't have kids, but when we went, my brother and/or sister-in-law took their son (almost 4) back to the room almost every day (we went in January). I think they ate lunch in the room and went for a swim or watched a little tv. They only back for went for a couple hours (no more than 3 I think?) but I know my sister-in-law thought it was a perfect break and intends to do the same thing next time around. We always met back up before dinner and fireworks. I'm sorry I can't give you more specifics but I know it worked for them.

Hope that helps a little bit.

Yes we do the exception would be if we was going to AK an they closed at 5 or 6 pm in dead of winter an had nothing else planned to do that night. I like to leave the park by 1:00 sometimes earlier an go back 5 or 6. We read take a nap maybe watch some TV in warm weather maybe swim for a bit. If it's summer it's nice to change into clean dry clothing esp socks an shoes.

It's also a good time to get clothes out for next day, fill cooler with ice.

Never have we regretted taking an afternoon break

Yes, we take a break every day at WDW. We go back to the room and either hit the pool or just nap for a while.

I guess we are the only ones so far who do not take a break during the day! Our son loves the parks and never complains...he first went when he was 5 and was out of napping by then anyways. He is a boy with a lot of energy and a little athelete (he plays competive hockey, paddling, fooball...) so he has endurance. But we take our time when we stop for our meals and sit and emjoy parades and shows. But every family is different...you will figure out quickly what will work for you guys! Enjoy your trip!

I have never taken a break during my trips to the parks.

I think it eats up a lot of time.

We always take a break mid day to rest. Even my 2 older DS's get cranky if they do not get a mid-day break. I tried 2 years ago to omit the break on a short 4 day trip and it was disasterous. I think a break is a neccesity. Just my opinion.:flower3:

The breaks are so important, and while we didn't take on every day, I tihnk we plan to this time around on a 10-day trip. There were times when that humidity was killing us and we didn't want to be out in the sun; other times, people were starting to annoy us and we figured we were just tired and needed to get away.

We would blast the AC, munch on snacks, take a power nap, the kids would swim. I found that I wasn't really tired but just needed a break from the crowds of people.

We took breaks during our first 3 visits in the 90's when the kids were younger. At first because they needed a break, and then because we were on a budget, so we ate our big meal at the condo. But now we keep going and use mealtimes as a short break. I'd rather sit on a bench for even 30 minutes or more to rest rather than take the long trek back to the resort or condo. And condo is only about 5 minutes further than going back to the resort.

We've had 6 day trips in Nov. Dec. and Jan. Never took a break where we left the parks. Our breaks are having a snack or adult beverage and people watching for a little while before we get back to the hustle and bustle of the attractions. It doesn't take a lot of time (like going back to the resorts would) but it gives the feet and mind a rest and let's one stop and enjoy the surroundings a bit. But we don't have children with us either.

We don't take breaks every single day. I don't think it's necessary. There are ways to take breaks within the parks, for instance quiet attractions or a long meal. So, some of our days we take breaks, and some we don't.

Once you are there for a couple days you'll get into the swing of things and you'll know what to do. :thumbsup2

I am planning on doing it for our first trip to allow us to get ready for our TS reservations and I am traveling with my Mom and Mom-Mom so that would allow them a break if they need it.
Me and the boys will probably grab something to eat and hit the pool. :)

Though I have never been to teh world yet, I have already planned how we will do breaks. I have found several places INSIDE the parks to cool off rest adn have several short breaks instead of one huge break and since we will not leave teh parks we will not miss much!

We usually visit in the summer. We are early risers and generally go back to the hotel in the early afternoon to cool off and have an early dinner. It is amazing what a dip in the pool or a quick shower can do to recharge you for a second round of touring.

Sometimes our break coincides with the afternoon thunderstorms, so it works out pretty good for us.

For us it depends on several factors: time of year-in the summer heat, we do feel the need to get out of the heat. Another factor is how early we got to the park- on a rope drop day, we need a break, while on a sleep in day we can keep going thru the evening.

We prioritize our attractions and activities. No one attraction is worth being miserable for our whole trip. We also know that we are fortunate enough to go fairly often (at least every 2 years and sometimes every year) so if we miss something this time, we can hit it next time.

We also found that a break does not have to be at our own hotel.....we can go to a resort closer to the park we're in and have an adult beverage, cool off and soak in the atmosphere.

We are afternoon breakers... we head out early and break around 2 or 3... then we go back out at dinner time, while everyone else is dragging in. We are refreshed and relaxed and ready for a fun night!!

We generally don't take breaks (unless you count sitting down to eat at a Disney restaurant). There are so many things we want to be doing in the parks that we just can't tear ourselves away. We are generally in the parks from rope drop until shortly before they close. We fall into bed exhausted and are up bright and early to start again the next day. We've been doing Disney this way since dd was 2 yrs old. She's always been easy going and when she got tired, she was happy to nap in the stroller. We focused on her rides when she was awake and did baby swap on adult rides when she was sleeping.

We took a break every day on our last trip and were very glad that we did. We went back to the hotel every day around 2:00-2:30 and swam, rested, watched TV in the cool, air conditioned room, had a snack, or whatever, for about 2 hours. Then got cleaned up and headed to our ADRs (I made our ADRs early, I think around 5:30), then back to the parks for the rest of the night. It worked really well for us and my girls told me they want to do it that way again on this trip.

Last trip we stayed at POP and having that break every day gave us time to explore the resort and do lots of fun things there. We're planning the same thing for our stay at CBR this summer -- they can't wait to go on the slides at the pool, play on the beaches, etc.

We were fully prepared to take a break each day. We were there end of Feb/early March with DD2 DD4 and DD6 for 6 days. We went to the parks every day. We ended up not going back to the hotel once! We had a double stroller (from a stroller swap) and DD2 took her naps there, so we were golden!

The closest we came to a break was when we wanted to see the Spectro parade and we knew it was going to be a late night. We took the monorail to the Contemporary and had a nice quiet dinner in the counter service restaurant and then headed back to the MK for the parade and fireworks.

Granted, the weather was cool and the crowds were manageable. My advice is, just see how the day goes and leave if you need to.
