Do You Book Standard View or Boardwalk View?

We'll be tyrying out the Boardwalk view for the first time this December. Can't wait to see for myself why so many prefer BW view!

All of our other trips have been standard view - which I think are very nice.

We always try for standard, unless we're thinking of changing the ressie at the 7 mo window.

DW, DS, welcome guests, and I never seem to have time to sit and people watch, so we have always gone with the standard view. I'm thinking of planning a trip in the neat future from Sunday to Friday in a standard view, then a weekend with local relatives, then another Sunday to Friday in a Boardwalk view. I've never taken a long leisurely WDW vaction, but like the sound of it.

Our vacation is at BWV... standard view (2660 hours -- who's counting). I'm sure we will probably opt for fancier "digs" in the future. We are focusing on making our nieces 1st trip to the mouse house a great one! Down to 2659 hours... tick... tick...

We always book standard. To stingy with the points, besides we are never in the room long enough to appreciate a boardwalk view.

CarolAnn, DebbieB:

Look at your sides in your balconies, I will be the guy with Mickey Ears and two little children checking out the action at the boardwalk next December.

See you there!!!!

For me, standard room whenever BW view is not available or you want to stretch out your points. But a BW view is definitely a luxury well worth the extra points (unlike any other "preferred" view).

Our first trip to BWV we booked Preferred View since that's all that was available...this was before the splitting of the Preferred View rooms.

This July we will stay in a Standard View room. And I would foresee future trips to be in a Standard as well...stretching those points!! :)

Must be the Scottish heritage, but cheap-points Standard view is fine with us. The rooms are lovely and most times we get IllumiNations view anyway.

I'm sure one day we'll splurge on a BW view (have a long range plan to get us a GV some time), just not right away.

I enjoyed this thread so I posted a poll on the subject.

We didn't have a choice for our January vacation, had to take preferred bw view for three nights then standard for two. In January, I would never again spend the points for bw view. Absolutely nothing was going on down there no matter what time of day or night. We were right across from the basketball game and the bell drove us nuts. Another time when there were more people I'd like the view, but when we moved to standard, we actually had a better view of fireworks. We looked at the main entrance and the bus stop. Still very pretty with the garden area and the bridge.

On our last trip we booked a two bedroom villa at the BVW with the boardwalk view. It had to be the second best view we have ever had at Disney, second only to a Contemporary tower view of the MK.

Retuning to the room at night to see "Spaceship Earth" all aglow and the Illuminations show was great. It's also fun for some late night "people-watching." We were on the 5th floor just over the basketball games and fortune-teller. A great location! The only disadvantage, if you can call it that, was the walk from the elevators and the even further walk from the self-park parking lot. One other thing, the balcony off the one bedroom unit was large and roomy while the studio balcony was a bit hard to see over. If you have the extra points, go for it.

I have always been able to get standard view and have taken that (to save points). Since you can now request "Boardwalk View" I may go for the extra points to get the view.

Boardwalk4me, WE'RE having a Grand Gathering this December also, and we booked 3 studios, 1-1 bedroom and 1-2 bedroom, all standard. If it weren't for the standard view, we wouldn't have been able to "do" it, we had used some '04 points for other ressies, and even with borrowing, we wouldn't have been able to book 4 nights for everyone at 11 months out!

This will be our first stay at BWV, in the future, I want to book the Boardwalk view.

We aslo have a grand gathering this Dec. We have two grand villas and a one bedroom villa for 23 people. I usually get the standard view villas when I bring my family because you could never guarantee a boardwalk view and in my opinion the standard view rooms have the nicest views for alot less points. Some of the preferred view rooms I've had rate right up there with the dumpster view ar VWl. Now that you can get bview rooms guaranteed then that is what we will go for on trips that we plan at 11 months out and take what we can get hopefully standard view for shorter notice. I think we are really lucky now that they've created the new guarantee...we have so many options. Never have enough boardwalk points though. :Pinkbounc

we had always asked for a 5th floor room looking out to TT
but last year we had a Boardwalk view ,the studio over the Brewery. It was fantastic.
Next October we have for the first time TWO 2 bedroom std. rooms, for the first time for my son's wedding.

Only Standard view here....I love my views....

You will never find me in anything but a boardwalk view room :teeth: If I can't get one, I'll stay elsewhere....that's how much I love the view!

I booked a Boardwalk view for our next NYE trip. We were in a standard view for the last 2 trips :). I love the standard views, but I always wanted a Boardwalk view. I am very happy that DVC made it a special category!

if just DW and I we do BWV pref. view boardwalk or pool. When we take family its standard all the way, we can et more rooms that way.

We leave wed:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

our count down clock is wrong

Standard.

Best room we ever had was way down the hall looking out towards the valet parking lot. Quiet, view was nice landscaping. Quick exit to parking/bus stop and MGM walk way.

We had friends who stay in first floor looking out to the main pool. That was cool the kids just ran out the door to the pool but I still like the far end of the hall.
